Quotes From those Who Claim They Want to Rid Us of GUNS

Recommended Posts

"We must be able to arrest people before they commit crimes. By registering guns and knowing who has them we can do that... If they have guns they are pretty likely to commit a crime."

-Vermont State Senator Mary Ann Carlson

They want to be able to round people up without their having committed crimes, and guns make it harder to do that.

"If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees."

-President Bill Clinton, August 12, 1993

"You know I don't believe in people owning guns, only the police and military. And I'm going to do everything I can to disarm this state."

- Michael Dukakis, then governor of Massachusetts, in conversation with Mike Yacino, MA Gun Owner's Action League, and Roy Innis, CORE, June 16, 1986

When only the police have guns, it's called a police state.

The gun-violence problem is more than the problem of guns in the hands of bad people. Its also a problem of guns in the hands of good people."

-Dennis Henigan, Gun control attorney, quoted in a New York articale by Peter J. Boyer. Houston Chronicle, May 24, 1999

Once again, the gun grabbers reveal their true intents; they don't care about preventing crime and saving lives, they want us disarmed so they can run their evil agenda against us unopposed.

"No, we're not looking at how to control criminals ... we're talking about banning the AK-47 and semi-automatic guns."

-U.S. Senator Howard Metzenbaum, 1993

"I don't care about crime, I just want to get the guns."

-U.S. Senator. Howard Metzenbaum, 1994

And again, they come right out and admit it.

"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal."

-U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, December 1993

Again, when only the police have guns it's called a police state. And that's what they want.

"I don't believe anybody has a right to own any kind of a firearm. I believe in order to obtain a permit to own a firearm, that person should undergo an exhaustive criminal background check. In addition, an applicant should give up his right to privacy and submit his medical records for review to see if the person has ever had a problem with alcohol, drugs or mental illness... The Constitution doesn't count!"

-John Silber, former chancellor of Boston University and candidate for Governor of Massachusetts. Speech before the Quequechan Club of Fall River, MA. August 16, 1990

The Constitution doesn't count? That's why they've been steadily attacking it with their unConstitutional laws and why the mass media has been villainizing guns piecemeal to brainwash the sheeple with their propaganda. They want the American people to be totally helpless and subservient, entirely dependent upon their "benevolent" masters. They want to rule and always rule, never to be overthrown or ousted. Same thing the Nazis and Soviets did as soon as they had any power.

"Assault weapons... are a new topic. The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons."

-Josh Sugarmann, "Assault Weapons: Analysis, New Research and Legislation", March 1989

An admission of the lies and propaganda filth they spread to further their agenda.

"It is also interesting to note that the top officials of Handgun Control Institute are gun owners themselves. They also intend on keeping them. It's other people's guns that bother them..."

-Mark Urbin

Yes, the elite party members will get to keep their guns, but the unwashed masses had better be dependent upon the protection and goodwill of their masters, or else.

How many high-profile members of Handgun Control Institute, the Brady Campaign, and Million Moms have been arrested for illegally being in possession of firearms (often with drug charges as well) or even murder? I don't know, but quite a few. The VPC even has its own FFL; what they were doing with it, who knows.

Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002.

This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating.

It is outrageous and unconscionable that such ammunition continues to be sold in the United States of America.

Armor-piercing ammunition for rifles and assault weapons is virtually unregulated in the United States.

A Federal license is not required to sell such ammunition unless firearms are sold as well.

Anyone over the age of 18 may purchase this ammunition without a background check.

There is no Federal minimum age of possession. Purchases may be made over the counter, by mail order, by fax, by Internet, and there is no Federal requirement that dealers retain sales records.

--- Senator Edward Kennedy, New York (February 26, 2004, Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, Congressional Record, (Pp. S1634-5)

Setting us up for banning "sporting" arms once they've gotten rid of the semi-auto guns and handguns.

Why these bolt-action and lever-action rifles are more powerful than the evil assault rifles we banned just a few years ago!

Many of them are designed as long-range, high-power uber sniper rifles capable of killing a man from over a mile away!

We should immediately begin regulating the sale of these weapons and establish common-sense restrictions on caliber, ammunition capacity, and the allowed magnification of telescopic sights!

And those lever-action rifles fire almost as quickly as semi-auto rifles! Outrageous!

They are now the weapon of choice for criminals everywhere!

"If someone is so fearful that, that they're going to start using their weapons to protect their rights, makes me very nervous that these people have these weapons at all!"
~ Rep. Henry Waxman, D-NY, 5/2001 MSNBC report on .50BMG rifles.

Ah, we again come to the heart of the matter. They're not concerned about crime, they're concerned with people fighting back and defending themselves and their rights against tyranny and aggression.

They're worried that THEY might become targets for angry Americans because of their immoral and unConstitutional legislation.

Pleasant thoughts for some I suppose.[:/]

Hence, why I wrote yesterday that Republicans and Democrats "have SHALLOW philosophical and political differences." Each party seeks to eviscerate Constitutional rights. They just differ of which of the people's rights to take away. Together, though, they can get rid of all of them.

You know, in the last two presidential races I haven't heard much from any of the candidates, Democrat or Republican, really pushing for gun control.

Maybe because the R's don't to have defend gun rights because the D's are not trying to take them. I think the D's finally realized that pushing for more gun restrictions is political suicide.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Clinton made a big stink about sport utility rifles and wouldn't accept HR3355 without a ban. That arguably cost the Democrats their majority in Congress.

There are enough single issue voters that national candidates can't stump on gun control. People who might be for gun rights (a national gun law pre-emption would be nice) can't do anything without ticking off the other side.

Obama has already stated he intends to bans all semi-automatic firearms.

Clinton has made statements as to returning to her husbands "common sense" approach on firearms restriction.

They all seem to forget that their own votes, and statements are the very rope they shall be hung by.

McCain on gun control:

Wants to register all gun show vendors/attendees:

=================
AP Aug 17, 1999:
“In particular, the bill [McCain-Lieberman] makes it illegal for a person to operate a gun show without a federal license, and structures the license application process so that licenses need never be issued. The bill indirectly requires that people who attend gun shows must be registered. The bill even requires that people who don’t sell guns (e.g., the numerous book, food, and clothing vendors at gun shows) be registered; and it would allow the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to demand a list of every book being sold by a book vendor. Finally, McCain-Lieberman authorizes BATF to create additional, limitless gun-show regulations, which could be used to make it nearly impossible for gun shows to be held.”
=================

Wanted to prevent NRA lobbying campaigns:

=================
NRA,"What's Happened to John McCain?"

"The gun control debate in Washington has hit center stage because Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has now become one of the premier flag carriers for the enemies of the Second Amendment."
================

Supports groups that advocate mandatory registration of guns:

================
Vote Smart Project:
McCain has also done advertisements on behalf of Americans for Gun Safety, a gun-control organization that supports licensing and registering every gun owner in the United States. He has used the ads to greatly exaggerate the risks of children getting access to guns in the home—a claim that is based upon a questionable survey—and asked that people lock up guns. With the threats he claims existed, few would know that in 2002, for example, the number of children under 10 who died from accidental gun shots was 20, and the number of children under 15 was 56. Obviously, one death is too many, but McCain has launched no similar campaign against other much more dangerous items in people’s homes.
================

Votes against gun rights 73% of the time:

John McCain Is A Liberal Gun Grabber
Chuck Baldwin
NewsWithViews

. . .

Nowhere is McCain's chicanery and duplicity more jeopardous than in the area of the right to keep and bear arms. On issues relating to the Second Amendment, John McCain is a disaster! For example, the highly respected Gun Owners of America (GOA) rates McCain with a grade of F-. McCain's failing grade is well deserved.

John McCain sponsored an amendment to S. 1805 on March 2, 2004 that would outlaw the private sale of firearms at gun shows. According to GOA, the provision would effectively eliminate gun shows, because every member of an organization sponsoring a gun show could be imprisoned if the organization fails to notify each and every "person who attends the special firearms event of the requirements [under the Brady Law]."

The GOA report of the 106th Congress reveals that out of 15 votes relating to the right to keep and bear arms, Senator John McCain voted favorably only 4 times. Put that into a percentage and McCain's pro-Second Amendment voting record is a pathetic 27%.

2002 C-
2004 F-

Randall The Vandal,
The military view on pre-emptive strikes sure is a fickle bitch when it comes to civilian applications, is it not?
