So lets take a look here.

You, (and your internet buddy) jakee, seem to think a little liberal circle jerk berating and insulting of someone you dont agree with is a good conversations tech.

(by the way, the spell check on this site now locks up my computer and I have stopped using it for now)

One game I do not care to play so, you two have fun.

Good, we won't have any more of your illogical, pidgin-English rants on this thread.

OK, let's take the thread in a slightly different direction. Let's assume that EVERY US citizen has pulled their head out and Let's say EVERY scientist agrees the climate is warming, and EVERY scientist agrees that it's the result of human habitation.

What do we do about it? What are YOU doing about it?
The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Hmm lets see...

All CFC bulbs in the house..

Thermostat turend down to 65 degrees in the house( electric furnace) but I do build a nice little fire in the evenings in my wood fireplace.

Diesel Beetle that gets 45 MPG around town for commuting..

All the appliances are new and green models.

Water heater has its little blankie to maintain temps.

My house has good winterization and doors are nicely sealed. All the walls are insulated.. and there is good insulation in the roof/cieling.

That is my way of offsetting my nice little toys like my 25' cabin cruiser that gets 1.5 MPG at 35 MPH that I use to catch salmon.;)

No television.

I tend to walk instead of drive.

I use a laptop with an energy efficient dual core processor instead of a desktop computer. Additionally, I keep the Bluetooth and WiFi turned off unless I actually need them.

Great, we (I) will let you live your life the way you want. All I ask is that you (and yours) stop with the lie to try and get me to conform to the way YOU think I should live. Thats all.

Actually, I hadn't responded to a single post you've made in this thread.

However, as you seem to be so confident about global warming being a big lie, feel free to post links to a few scientific studies published in respected peer reviewed journals that support your claim. Thus far, the only "scientists" from whom I've read opinions about global warming being a hoax, as you call it, skip the study and peer reviewed, and just go straight to the opinion section of newspapers, blogs, etc.

Since you are obviously better informed than anybody else on this topic, I'm sure you'll have no problem providing credible supporting evidence.

I am not better informed nor have I ever claimed to be. I have stated many times on this site my position but, if you want links I will refer you to billvons posts.

Correlation does not move to a causation conclusion in this tipic. Nor is there "concensus" as many would want us to believe. Consensus is a shut the oposition up tactic at best.

So, until you have the proof to prove your opinion, leave the rest of us alone. Live as you please and so will I.

Oh, and I dont want to kill the planet for my kids and grandkids. And I am not so arrogant to think we humans have the power to do so, globally.

Eddited to add: YOU are the one wanting to change eveything to fit your view.YOU come up with the proof!!>:(

Living in the great central desert will not be so bad.... people live in deserts all over the world.... marginally in most cases when they have no resources.. but.. hey... they do manage.

Hmm lets see...

All CFC bulbs in the house.. The CFC's contain mercury - you are screwing the planet.

Thermostat turend down to 65 degrees in the house( electric furnace) but I do build a nice little fire in the evenings in my wood fireplace. The fire emits CO2 - you are screwing the planet.

Diesel Beetle that gets 45 MPG around town for commuting.. ok, but if you are really serious you would ride a bike. You are screwing the planet.

All the appliances are new and green models. Green is a terrible color, esp. for a kitchen.

Water heater has its little blankie to maintain temps. If you were really serious you'd take cold showers.

My house has good winterization and doors are nicely sealed. All the walls are insulated.. and there is good insulation in the roof/cieling. Good, but I'm sure you could live in a smaller house.

That is my way of offsetting my nice little toys like my 25' cabin cruiser that gets 1.5 MPG at 35 MPH that I use to catch salmon. Obviously you are not serious about countering global warming, or this would have been given up for a rowboat long ago.

Also, I assume you are still skydiving. This will NOT be approved by the New World Government.

Please, someone who is SERIOUS about climate change.

And I'm guessing you still ride a King Air to altitude. (although your profile is so incomplete, you might not even be a skydiver)

Next please.

Thank you for making my point. The scientific evidence suggests that global warming is real, and humans are a significant contributor. In lieu, of scientific evidence to the contrary, most reasonable people conclude that there is a very high probability that the scientists who published their studies in peer reviewed journals are correct in their conclusions.

Quote

Correlation does not move to a causation conclusion in this tipic. Nor is there "concensus" as many would want us to believe. Consensus is a shut the oposition up tactic at best.

If there aren't many/any peer reviewed studies refuting the evidence supporting global warming and man as a significant contributor, then there would appear to be a consensus.

Quote

So, until you have the proof to prove your opinion, leave the rest of us alone.

The evidence seems to be fairly one-sided at this point. That is why I wanted to ask you for evidence supporting your claim that GW is a hoax.

You're absolutely correct. We humans are powerless to destroy the earth. However, it does appear that we do have the power to change the climate significantly enough to have a major affect on the quality of life of future generations. But that doesn't matter, since the earth will survive with or without humans, right?

Quote

Eddited to add: YOU are the one wanting to change eveything to fit your view.YOU come up with the proof!!>:(

Why are you so defensive? I didn't ask you to change anything to fit my view. I simply asked if you had any evidence to support your learned opinion. As passionately as you argue that man doesn't contribute to global warming, I thought perhaps you were aware of scientific studies that the rest of us weren't privy to. If you don't have the evidence, you don't have the evidence. It's not a big deal. I'll just continue accepting the conclusions of scientists that do have scientific evidence to support their conclusions. No one is trying to force you to accept evidence that you would prefer to ignore. This isn't a court and you're not a juror. There's no need to get >:(.

I hope you had a nice weekend, sir.

>What do we do about it?

Switch to alternatives. SciAm has a good article on how we could switch to solar and have it supply 69 percent of the U.S.’s electricity and 35 percent of its total energy by 2050. That would eliminate foreign imports completely and greatly stretch our remaining oil supplies.

>What are YOU doing about it?

I bike to work, and often get around on an electric bicycle that I built. I generate my own power from a solar array. I generate about twice what I use in my house and donate the rest to the grid.

Our hot water is heated by a solar collector. We use recycled water to irrigate our trees and garden. We grow about 10% of our food and get about 30% from a local organic farm.

When I do drive I use a Prius that I run on ethanol (E50.) We get 45-48mpg with it.

At Otay, I installed an independent solar power system. It has a propane generator that they use for running the air conditioners etc. The solar power component runs the DZ the rest of the time and saves them about 10 gallons of propane a week.

I've badgered people at my company to install solar, and as a result of that badgering (and the badgering of many other people) they recently installed half a megawatt of solar power on their main campus. They now have Gold-LEED certification.

At work I am currently working on energy harvesting, basically using environmental energy (sound, light, motion, vibration etc) to keep portable devices charged so they do not need to be plugged in.

How about yourself?

OK, let me ignore the typical liberal response of "when you don't have an argument start name-calling." I'll respond to your post.

Plus the savings from the other efforts.. are applied to having fun.. its all about the economics for me.

So what you're saying is, as long as you are maintaining the status quo (global warming) - a few more CFC bulbs = a bigger boat or more skydives, it makes you feel better, though, AND you will get the new world you richly deserve... and a whole lot less land to pollute and breed your misguided offspring in

Oh, and try not to end a sentence with a preposition.

You would be surprised. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are power sucking radio transmitters and receivers. Intel's Core architecture offers significantly more computing power per watt than their Pentium line offered, and the dual core versions increase performance by approximately 75% over single core versions, while only consuming about 1% more power. Laptop CPUs offer significant additional power savings compared to their desktop counterparts. Furthermore, the LCD screens used in laptops offer significant power savings compared to CRT monitors still in use on desktop computers in many homes.

Actually, my skydiving career is currently on hold at least until I graduate, so I'm not currently riding anything to altitude. I never much cared for King Airs, though. They probably top my list for least desirable jump planes. I prefer an Otter or something with a tailgate. Heck, I'd even prefer a C-182 over a King Air.
