But that one person has to be able to raise at least a quarter of a billion dollars to even ante up to the game. It's a flawed system that's not that far removed from monarchical inbreeding. freeflybella 0 #53 March 18, 2008 From his speech here in Philly: While Obama rejected what Wright said, he also embraced the man who inspired his Christian faith, officiated at his wedding, baptized his daughters and has been his spiritual guide for nearly 20 years. "I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community," Obama said, speaking in front of eight American flags. "I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother — a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe." Obama said he knew Wright to occasionally be a fierce critic of U.S. policy and that the pastor sometimes made controversially remarks in church that he disagreed with, but he said he never heard Wright talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms. The comments that have become a source of debate recently "were not only wrong but divisive" and have raised questions among voters, he said. "I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and YouTube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way," he said. "But the truth is, that isn't all that I know of the man." It really isn't a black and white issue. Pardon the pun. But he certainly doesn't seem to be LYING. idrankwhat 0 #54 March 18, 2008 I'm not sure if you were replying to me or if I was just the "chosen one" for your post. The only "lying" that I referred to was McCain's break with reality in Iraq. Thanks for posting the quote. I think Obama's dealt with the issue pretty well. His detractors will no doubt carve a fractured sentence or two and beat it to crap in an effort to make him look like a baby eating America hater. It just wasn't intended to be a blanket statement. I had just finished watching something about the right wing noise machine. The graphics are a bit over the top but if you just pay attention to the clips and dates it does a good job of showing how character assassinating non issues can be cultivated on FOX and are picked up as the theme du jour by the rest of the brain dead sell-a-thon that is the rest of the media. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjvNSpsPu1k It all boils down to what sells airtime. warpedskydiver 0 #63 March 18, 2008 I see a problem that some self loathing white folks are far too eager to give Obama a pass, and conclude that he is telling the truth that he has never heard his pastor utter racist remarks. Hmmm.....never heard them but yet that pastor has been doing exactly that for over 20yrs. Obama says he embraces that pastor, attends that church, and continues to worship there. How about another quote from the Pastor? "Hillary never had a cab whizz past her and not pick her up because her skin was the wrong color. Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over in her car as a black man driving in the wrong… I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it! Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single-parent home. Barack was! Barack knows what it means to be a black man livin’ in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people! Hillary can never know that!" Yep Barak Obamas poor single mom had to raise him with his POS father who skipped out on him. That has to be the fault of white america, because they forced Baraks dad to flee hi parental obligations. The problem is that Baraks mom is white, so who left here struggling with a son as a single parent without any support? His father!!! I will say it again in case it does not sink in His Dad, a black man skipped out on him, and yet it is white americas fault???

All the aforementioned has it's place in the rule of law, and in the excecute branch, as well as the legislative. It is not an either or propostion, but rather it demands that both be observed. (constitution taking precedence) unless there is legistalition repealing the amendment in question.

Then, second: why is it in his advantage to race bait?Coreece: "You sound like some skinheads I know, but your prejudice is with Christians, not niggers..." I can go into an answer fist but, if you will allow me please, do the following first. Google the news for "race baiting". See what is said and what examples are givin, used and reported. Apply what you may learn (anc conclude) to what Obama is saying. And, you need to do this through the whole speach not just excerpts. Post back your conclusions. Did FOX follow their lead? What I think that video does well is show how right wing "entertainment", due to both its volume and volume, gets picked up by the rest of the media as topics for national discussion. Again I'll ask, why are Wright's comments so newsworthy and Hagee's comments no big deal?
