re-registering as a dem to vote for hillary

I'm guessing those Republicans who do re-register Dem are doing so on the assumption McCain will have a better chance at winning the November election against Hillary than Barack.

that's my assumtion as well. i think that hillary will be unable to gain supporters. the longer she is out there, the more people she turns off. obama , otoh, has the ability to sway people in his favor. because of this, i think johnny mac will have a much easier time defeating hillary.

<< cold and calculating ...>>

Not necassarily a bad thing in and of it's self.

this sort stuff you hear from guys about women who turned
them down for a date or dumped them for someone else.

There is a lot of talk about whether we are transcending
race etc - this sort-of shows there's a problem of similar
magnitude about gender. (I mean which male cadidate
has to listen about how his voice sounds like or what
fashion problems they have with pant suits etc)

Cheers, T

Why do you hate her so much? I see people say anything BUT Hillary, but they give anything BUT reason!

Notice its almost always the guys who are so scared of her.

I write it off to the fact that she will be doing the job with the BIG head all of the time.. and they dont like that fact since so many of them give the big head time off while the little head runs the show... like her husband and most of the politicians... like Foley and Craig etc.

Oh and had to add that the little head also controls the sabre rattling and arrogance that has kept us at war almost continuously since patriarchal forms of government came into being about 5000 years ago.

1 - Only those that have staffs to deal with those things.

Which means ALL of them. For debates, every analysis pretty much starts off on what color tie they wore and how they came across.

And let's not forget Kerry's snottiness, GWBs pronunciatorical grammeratiness, and Howard Dean's primal scream, Perot's ears, etc etc ad nauseum.

2 - We'll have truly transcended race when we stop talking about transcending race and get on the issues and characters of the candidates ONLY.

Frankly, we are going backwards from hypersensitivity. Doesn't anyone else find statements like "We'll have passed a threshold the day a (insert race/gender here) is a legitimate candidate for (insert political/industrial/etc position here)" to be completely ridiculous and ABSOLUTELY counter to the point we'd hope to reach?

not true at all, people, including women, just don't fucking like her and don't think she'll take this country in a direction they want it to go. it has nothing to do with the type of genitalia she has. she will win or lose based on who she is and not what gender she is.

Be that as it may....

BUT.. the majority of the crap I have been listening to coming out of mens mouths for the last 2 years when this all started has been an endless stream of misogynistic tripe....and that goes for some women as well.

There are VERY few men who can cope with working for a woman... ALL the sterotypical slurs come out when she is doing the same job in the same way a man is doing that same job. They are not hardwired to follow a woman....and cant handle a woman as leader.

I personally know about 40 men who work for a woman -- same woman I work for. Maybe 10% have a problem with it and/or use stereotypical slurs. The rest are pretty much gender-uncaring about it.

Maybe the times are a changin' out from under your own stereotypical view?

Concur.
  • Sen McCain on foreign policy, defense policy, national security
  • Sen Obama on foreign affairs, defense, energy, healthcare, education
  • Analysis of the Senators Obama, Clinton & Edward's policies on nuclear weapons, terrorism, and deterrence [Edit to add: in which I am most critical of the Cold War-esque strategies of Sen Clinton.]

Again, can you show where someone actually made that statement? It seems to be a red herring.

Whereas, actual quotes from just the last 4 months in Speakers Corner, with which you didn't seem to take issue:

    Quote

***Exactly why i'd never vote for a woman. "TEARS UPON DEMAND" And what happens if her estrogen pills get fucked up. Look out.

Maybe something like: "It's that time of the month boys; who can I blow up this time?"

    Quote

She failed, as a wife, to minister to her husband's sexual desires on demand. She should have been the one under the desk.

I dont believe so.. I work in a very male dominated field.. at a VERY large company. I hear the same crap daily by the guys, much of it is more covert than it was in years past.. but it is still here and alive and well.

Give me a hard charging woman manager and I'm sure I swear some things to myself. Do the same for a man, but the insults change to fit the gender. If you always like what your manager is doing, probably isn't a very good one. They're paid to do the dirty work and the hard calls.

Unfortunately, I've had many woman as managers that fit the bad stereotypes of middle management. I'll gladly take the hard charging, straight shooters instead. Hillary Clinton - she'd be the type that pretends to be looking out for the subordinates, but change colors whenever upper management is nearby. And that is why a lot of people don't like her.

I don't think it is particularly immoral for Republicans to register to try to sabotage. Already people compromise their wishes by picking the more electable candidate. But I think you're dancing with fire when you vote for someone you absolutely don't want - you might actually get her.

As a result, I expect few would do it. You also lose your right to vote for your preferred nominee in the other races if you reregister. It's more of a concern in the states where you can vote cross party in the primaries (a choice I don't think should be given, or to undeclared. the primary is for party members to pick their nominees).

If you accept the argument that narrowly winning Texas and Ohio makes Clinton viable again even though she trails on the delegate count, then it doesn't take too many GOP crossovers to make the Democratic Convention a circus. That could be a tactic for PA if the people were easily and discreetly directed. Which of course is impossible.

it's a person's right to vote for whomever they want for whatever reason they want.

The purpose of voting, generally, is to try to get the person you feel is best qualified for the position into the position. However you accomplish that is up to you.

I think everyone in every state, regardless of party, should get a vote in the primary for whomever they want to "vote for" (or against).

It pisses me off in my beloved home state of Florida I do not get to vote in the primary. I'm an Independent.

It's a valid opinion, but I don't agree with it. The primaries exist for each party to select their candidate. Independents get to make their choice in the primary election. If you want to vote for/against a particular candidate, register with that party.

    Things to consider:

    1. Slightly over 50% of the voting age population is female. (last pole i heard of 54% wouldnt even consider voting for her, and her numbers with women voters against obama reflect that some)

    2. The population in general is pissed off with the GOP.( seems to me that was the case in 04 as well)

    3. The party holding the White House is always punished in elections when the economy is bad.

    4. The likelihood of a dramatic turn around in the economy by November is remote. ( Ive heard lots on wall street say otherwise even predictions of a dow at 14,500 to 15k and for all us working class peps i hope so.)
