If customers are offended, tellers apologize, but still insist on removal. The FBI may turn to a new ploy to combat bank robberies: a dress code. Special Agent Larry Carr plans to work with Washington state lawmakers on legislation that would forbid banks from doing business with customers who wear hats and sunglasses while inside the bank. Now, what if a Muslim person in the full body covering enters a bank? I'll bet it will be ok until someone robs a bank in that outfit. Harvard has a dress code problem. clicky Quote BOSTON - In a test of Harvard's famed open-mindedness, the university has banned men from one of its gyms for a few hours a week to accommodate Muslim women who say it offends their sense of modesty to exercise in front of the opposite sex. The policy is already unpopular with many on campus, including some women who consider it sexist. QuoteStudent Ola Aljawhary, who is Muslim and works out elsewhere on campus but is not one of the women who requested the change, rejected that argument. "The majority should be willing to compromise," she said. "I think that's just basic courtesy. We must show tolerance and respect for all others." QuoteNo men are allowed in the gym between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays, and between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even the staff during those times is all women. Incrementalism. Eventually the decor at Bennigans will offend someone?
Zenister 0 #2 March 5, 2008 I dont see how inflicting your beliefs on others equates to 'Respect'. Respect means everyone can use the facilities equally, those who have issues with basic access for all (because of their own primitive belief) can exercise at home, and not impose their idea of 'modesty' on others. What genius believes you can promote 'open-mindedness' by banning.____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. steveorino 7 #6 March 5, 2008 Where will it end? It never ends ... Years ago I was asked by a parishner to preach a funeral for her dad. I said okay. She told me they were from the "no neck tie" sect of Church of God, and asked would I be willing to perform such servics sans neck tie. Heck yeah! No problem, I hate neck ties, not because they offend my moral senses or Paul's admonition to not wear "worldy adornment" but they choke my 17 1/2 inch neck! It was a country church out in the Okiehoma sticks and they did not have AC. It was August, It was 105 degrees. I wore a sleeveless white dress shirt. Upon arriving I was informed I could not perform the funeral because my arms were bare ... too sensual they said! Now I admit, I have HUGE guns, I vowed then and there not to try and change to fit someone else's idea of religious correctness. steveOrino
rehmwa 2 #7 March 5, 2008 Quote neck ties, ...... they choke my 17 1/2 inch neck! Either you are special, or you just wanted to let us all know your collar measurement.....Let's assume the former: Try the ones that you can tie instead of the elastic ones that you stretch over your neck ("one size fits all" my ass). You could also try clip ons if you find yourself accidently strangling yourself from over tightening. But for goodness sake, figure it out before the state government thinks to pass anti-tie laws in order to protect you from yourself. This is a public service announcement. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
