Texas Democratic Primaries

So ... who do you think will win the upcoming primaries in TX?

Who gives a fuck. SOS. He or whomever buys the Whitehouse.

Than never to have loved at all.

I really couldn't say, not about Ohio either. I am sort of hoping Hillary wins though, BECAUSE even if Obama wins both states, he still doesn't have enough delegates to clinch the nomination. Unlike McCain, who will likely sew it up today on the Republican side.

This Democratic nomination is going to be settled at the convention, by the super delegates. And maybe not even on the first ballot. But Hillary's NOT dropping out, you can bet on that. So if they're both going to a brokered convention, I'd like to see them both go with enough delegates to look viable and not piss off the losing camp when the nominee is finally chosen.

this may be a silly question, but when a democratic nominee is selected - in this case clinton or obama, what are the odds that the winner will choose the other as the vice president?

i've never really given much thought to how VPs are chosen, but do they seem like a likely pair? (sorry if this was discussed elsewhere)

Lately there have been two ways to select a VP. One is to broaden your appeal. Reagan the outsider from the west did it by choosing the GOP establishment guy from the east, Bush the elder. Bush did it by pandering to the religious right with Quail.
The other way is to choose an ideological soul-mate to act as a lieutenant. Clinton did that with Gore and Bush the younger did it with Cheney.
I think Obama needs to pick someone that the clan doesn't want so they won't shoot him. Maybe Hillary isn't a bad choice.:S

What better way for Hillary to get the presidency?

There's a long list of dead by assocoation, with the Clintons.

The wife and I along with several friends of ours committed Voter Suicide this morning and crossed over and voted for Hillary.

Looking to keep her in the race so her and that well spoken dude can keep spending their supporters money.:P

I see Cheney more as a puppet-master...

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I was trying to be neutral. I guess I could have included nominating a moron for personal protection as an option taken by Nixon too.

The longer the two are deadlocked, the nastier they have gotten and that isn't the foundation for a successful campaign.

I think you're much likelier to see that sort of outcome when the nomination process goes likes McCain's, where he quickly jumps ahead and then might select one to fill an electoral need.

This has been the thing with Hillary Clinton all along.

Bill Clinton owes Hillary.
The Democratic leadership owes Bill Clinton.

I could see Obama accepting the VP slot on a ticket with Hillary, if she were to offer. Win or lose, it would certainly be a historic ticket. On the other hand, I don't see Hillary accepting the number two slot with anyone. I don't think it's in her nature to do that.

looks like Clinton is doing well in TX ...

its truly amazing how the votes are distributed between the counties (the map on the bottom)

They don't call Obama the Starbucks candidate for nothing. Map matches pretty well with Starbucks locations (see attached) but there weren't enough locations for him to win.

Cheers, T
