What was that I was saying about fakers? Umm....roots=dirt. Enjoy! And no....nobody has disproved my position. We have to have B12. We get it from meat, eggs, milk.....dirt....vitamin supplementation. Oh, and BEER! :) You keep referring to my education. I don't think you want me to post a bunch of microbiology text. First, it wouldn't be pertinant. Second, I don't think you'd understand ANY of it. I don't want to post a bunch of microbiology text for those same reasons....It's pointless here. As a physician, I understand in fairly good detail how B12 works for us....why need it....how we get it and that sort of thing. I posted an NIH website (as opposed to Wikipedia...and you're calling ME names??? Umm...) to provide you with some information. I'm not trying to be a shithead to you. I don't get why you're being that way yourself...unless you see that as a sign of "being" somebody. I think it's just pathetic, myself. TrophyHusband 0 #305 February 16, 2008 QuoteI'm sure some animals mate out of season on occassion, but the point is that hunters indescriminately kill w/o consideration for family relationships. Some animals are monogomous for life, unlike humans, yet we preace that BS, fuck around on our mates, then go kill animals in nature that are truly monogomous. What a paradox of BS, huh? Now go poke fun at that statement, then go kill a small animal's parent, child, etc. what family relationships? most animals do not have these family relationships that you speak of. the ones that do are not regularly hunted. wolves are one exceptoin, but we don't hunt them yet. as soon as they are delisted they will be hunted here in idaho though. you are trying to give animals human qualities. if you are going to make these arguments, you need to educate yourself at least as well the hunters about how animals interact. your lack of knowledge depletes any validity your argument may have, but god damn its entertaining. So in your speciesist need to make it less sentient in your eyes and just your food... you feel the need to demean it by calling it a weed before you ingest it.. which kills millions of cells. Eating salads means you are eating them alive, but I guess that makes it alright for you. Bully for you....I prefer my food dead

billvon 3,120 #313 February 18, 2008 Interesting development today: =============== (CNN) -- A slaughterhouse that has been accused of mistreating cows agreed Sunday to recall 143 million pounds of beef in what federal officials called the largest beef recall in U.S. history. Officials said this is the largest recall in the United States, surpassing a 1999 recall of 35 million pounds. Keith Williams, a U.S. Department of Agriculture spokesman, said investigators have found no cases of illness related to the recalled meat. But Dick Raymond, the undersecretary of agriculture for food safety, said there was a "remote probability" that the meat from the Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company in Chino, California, could cause illness in humans. The amount of beef -- 143 million pounds -- is roughly enough for two hamburgers for each man, woman and child in the United States. ================= Looks like there will be a little less beef in any case. Spare me your abstract argument. So it is murder to pick a head of lettuce, same as shooting a deer, same as hanging a sheep by its foot for an hour so the blood drains out, then cutting its throat. nothing abstract about it. It is a simple fact. Something must always die for another to continue to live.. There is little difference in carefully pulling a plant out of the ground to preserve the 'tasty bits' and hanging the sheep up.. the only difference is your Emo button has become overdeveloped for life of the sheep and desensitized to that of lettuce... google anthropomorphization while you are chewing the cud some time..."Murder" only applies to humans. whither you respect the life you take in order to survive is an entirely personal choice.. but respect or no, you are still taking another life in order to prolong your own. (unless ofc you are a fruitarian.. but then lots of bacteria is dying for you to live still) so again... life feeds on life feeds on life feeds on....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. billvon 3,120 #316 February 18, 2008 > Why was the beef recalled? A video surfaced showing them using cattle prods and forklifts to move non-ambulatory cattle into slaughterhouses. They are concerned that cows that can't walk or are deranged might be diseased. wildfan75 1 #317 February 18, 2008 Here's the link to the offical USDA recall release. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/PDF/Recall_005-2008_Release.pdf All of the cattle that were slaughtered received a ante-mortem inspection that cleared them for slaughter. It was after their ante-mortem inspection that these cattle became "downers". Some times cattle that are slaughter are former dairy cows. These cows could have severe ligament and/or joint damage that prevent them from standing for long periods of time, and no matter how much you "poke" them, they aren't going to get up. The fact that these cattle passed the ante-mortem inspection suggest that the reason they are "downers" are for physical reasons, not phyisological (hope that makes sense...because their bodies are f'd up, not their nervous system). They are recalling beef all the way back from February 1, 2006. There have been no reported illnesses or food born disease linked to this beef. That's two years and no one has reportedly gotten sick. And to clarify RckyMtHgh's post about Mad Cow being found in Atlanta Schools. No, they did not find Mad Cow in beef in Atlanta Schools. They had beef products made from beef from Westlands. There is no indication that Mad Cow is any more a factor in this situation as my pencil at work breaking caused it to snow last night. The article does not state that they found Mad Cow disease like MckyMtHgh clearly claims in her post anyhow. Its not going to cause me to stop eating meat. I do think the video shows inhumane treatment and the employees need to be disciplined as such, but mainly because its making my life at work a bitch right now!!! I'm more worried the millions of people in the world that are killed every year because of their religious beliefs and the millions more that don't live in a world that affords them simple, basic human rights. There's something to be said for raising your own. But that's probably easier here, where you can buy a lot of land for next to nothing, than in most places. Raising cattle, chickens, pigs and a HUGE vegetable garden is pretty common. It metastized to his bones. The pain was horrid and crippling. He wasn't even 55 years old. A nurse. A vegetarian. His cancer was very likely linked to the chemicals that he ate.... in his tofu and other "meat flavored" products. I would NEVER wish cancer on anyone.
