Personally, had more fun per $ at Fran's Star Ranch (when it was in business) than I had in the wind tunnel. I guess it depends on what kind of "blow job" you want."Harry, why did you land all the way out there? Nobody else landed out there." "Your statement answered your question." The block rates are usually quite different from the 2 minute whuffo rates. Perris lists on their web site: 60 minute block off-peak: $700 60 minute block weekends: $725 I don't know any skydivers who go to the tunnel just to do 2 minutes. Skydivers and tunnel bunnies usually book at least a half hour or hour and split it with a couple of other people...then you will get the better rate. Of course if it is booked for the weekend that is no help for right now!

Perris got robbed if that's what they payed. I'll take Orlando anyday.>"Those who come to the wind tunnel, a $4 million project that will have grand opening festivities June 12, can experience what it's like to skydive without ever jumping from the solid safety of a plane.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. DSE 5 #8 February 10, 2008 My original thought about a year ago was that a tunnel cost approx 5M. One of the windtunnel managers piped up and claimed it cost 7M to get their tunnel started. City of Ogden claims approximately the same for the tunnel at the Solomon Center in Ogden, Utah. I tacked on another mil for inflation. If you build it, they WILL come. You also need to add on the licensing fee skyventure expects every year for doing absolutely nothing but selling you a wind tunnel. I think when skydive DeLand was looking into a wind tunnel sv wanted $200,000 a year, on top of the 4.5 million they were charging at the time for an orlando size wind tunnel. Thats a lot of cash for nothing in return. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Andrewwhyte 1 #11 February 10, 2008 I hear Larry Hill pays agriculture (subsidized) rates for power; now that's politics.
DSE 5 #12 February 10, 2008 If it weren't for Larry Hill, Eloy as it's now operating, would likely close down and be a dust fart in the wind. Eloy figured that out a while ago, Skydive Arizona is an extremely significant revenue stream for the city. If subsidized power helps keep that revenue stream in-town, all the better for the citizens.

billvon 3,120 #14 February 10, 2008 > 50 bucks for 2 mins and booked solid this w/e. WTF? Eh, you can get it for $10-12/min with the right 'deals.' You have to buy a bunch of it though. I generally don't buy less than half an hour at a time, and then sell the rest of it to other people who want 5-10 minutes.
Casurf1978 0 #15 February 10, 2008 Skyventure probably spent a ton of money on R&D over the years, plus I'm sure they offer you support in case something goes wrong with the equipment. Now if you want to go at it alone, design, test, build and support a new tunnel go right ahead. But now you're looking easily at tens of millions. Armour666 0 #18 February 10, 2008 not really your paying for the licensing of the patent unlike some other products where you can make continued profits for a long period of time due to volume of sales you cant exactly do that with a wind tunnel as there can only be a finite number in a given market can support plus that they protect your market area from not selling another tunnel in your area to another business. Don’t forget their continued cost of R&D and engineering that is going on giving us even bigger tunnels then before.SO this one time at band camp.....
