The Great UN

Why would anyone want a group of people who despise us as a nation, and they do, hold sway over our ability to rule ourselves?

Why do you think that? Do you really think the UN holds sway over our ability to rule ourselves? Every time anything comes up in the UN that negatively effects the US or Israel, the US vetoes it. That pretty much puts an end to that. If you don't know anyone who works at the UN, why do you claim to know how they feel? Why do think that the UN is full of corruption? Who are all of these people? They wink at criminal behavior? What are you basing your argument on that every country involved in the Oil for Food program was looking to profit from the minute it started? Where are you getting this information? Do you even comprehend how big the UN is? Do you know how many organizations make up the UN?

You label people as liberals, and write the things you write, but you aren't supporting your statements with anything other than rhetoric. That makes them empty statements.

Do you believe that the US government should be held responsible for the rogue behavior of a number of it's soldiers? Probably not, right? Don't we hold the soldiers responsible. I believe that the same applies to UN peacekeepers... by the way, UN Peacekeepers are soldiers from countries around the world who are volunteered by their countries to work for the UN Department of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO). Their salaries are paid for by their countries. Does that mean that their own countries should be held responsible for their actions? Are we going to start yelling, India needs to end! It's full of corruption... didn't you see what those soldiers did?

You're right, I don't believe the UN should be held responsible... I think I made that pretty clear in my previous post. I also made clear the reasons why I believe that. I believe the soldiers should be held responsible. Any soldiers that commit crimes should answer to a military court. What is so difficult to understand here?

Based on your confusing implication that the UN should be held responsible for the actions of a few rogue soldiers, wouldn't the mean US government be held responsible for the actions of a it's soldiers? Based on your previous post about the troops gang raping the iraqi woman, you're starting to sound a little liberal

Correct, just as GWB should not be held responsible for the soldier who raped and killed that 14 year old girl.

>Who should they answer to?

The UK's Serious Fraud Office, for one. They are now investigating the incident.

I'm a liberal, and I don't like people who "screw with the USA." However, if they enforce international law, then great. We _should_ all be complying with that. Heck, even conservatives were screaming about Saddam Hussein violating international law. Surely what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Same reason that California, a state that many people in DC despise, should allow the federal government to "hold sway" (to a limited extent, of course) in their politics.
