Why are Democratic Presidential Candidates allowed to campaign from a church pulpit?

Recommended Posts

Probably because most churches are not into letting in the riff raff that the Republican politicians have turned out to be...war hero thieves.....Values candidates selling out to the K street crooks ...Gay self loathing homophobes....pedophiles... hell yall even got a freakin crossdresser on the ticket... he might show up in a really inappropriate.. yup.. good "family values" candidates

I saw on the news today, Edwards in a Baptist church speaking from the pulpit. I do know that it is MLK Jr. day, but it does seem a bit 'convenient' since he is running for president. I don't have his exact transcript, but I will look for it.

I have attended mass (Catholic) my entire life and I can honestly say that I have never once heard a political candidate speak from a pulpit, nor have I ever witnessed a priest endorse a candidate.

Oops. Well to me it means you don't share my sense of humour. Carry on.

You're correct, I don't. Your statement appeared to be a veiled attack on folks who are either Republican, Christian or both.

Thanks labrys for an honest neutral reply.

Folks, I'll gladly concede if I am wrong; but I would like to hear from folks like labrys that can actually give an intelligent reply rather than the usual babel that is so prevelant here.

This is only slightly related, but was anyone else a little disturbed by the fact that Romney got 94% of the Mormon vote in Nevada? It makes sense to me that he'd win a majority of them, but 94%?!

I believe Edwards was speaking from the pulpit at Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, which was MLK's church. Obama was there on Sunday as well. They both say they were there to honor MLK. That may be but it is what it is-which is campaigning. As usual, the democrats get the free pass from the press.

Mike Huckabee last week suggested that the Constitution should be amended to be more in line with God's laws. The fact that he wasn't completely ripped to shreds by the press on that is evidence that free passes go to both sides of the aisle.

Thank you for pointing that incident out.
