Unstable 9 #2 January 17, 2008 I dunno man - I give the man props for standing up for what he believes in and his faith...I have respect for people who actually live their faith and try to make the world a better place because of it. Quote "We are the authority on getting people off drugs, We are the authority on the mind" This seems a bit bold, but then again how many Christian Churches out there claim that they are the only true church? As I read more about Scientology, I see a lot of weirdness. Xenu, the great Alien Emperor 75 Million Years ago..... Throughout their history, churches of Scientology have worked to identify and isolate the causes of religious intolerance, and to develop effective ways to bring about a society where individuals may freely worship according to their conscience. These are firmly held beliefs as expressed in the Creed of the Church of Scientology. Yep he's gone over the edge ... STRANGE fella ... freethefly 6 #9 January 17, 2008 Years ago, someone left a Dianetic book on a railcar I was assigned to. I read, maybe, half of it. Odd stuff. My impression was that it was a religion. Shortly after, I started noticing the Dianetic Centers and hearing more about Scientology. Sort of an organized form of insanity is my opinion."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." If there are no traces of it in as religiously diverse a group as middle class Kansas then it must truly be out there.

I think you misquoted him there...he said he doesn't hesitate to put ethics on someone (he didn't say 'my' ethics). Holding people to ethics isn't a bad thing. I'd kinda like to know that the police officers and teachers i.e. here in my town have some ethics in general.I don't know one single thing about Scientology beyond some famous actors are involved in it...but if you watched that video again and replaced the word 'Scientology' (and derivatives thereof) with 'people who have great wealth', it sounds like any other philanthropic organization, and not some kind of freak cult that people are making the video out to be. I just don't see how that video specifically is 'damning' evidence of...well, anything or anyone at all. He wants to help people. Cool. Let him help people that want his help. I don't really see him/them/whoever as trying to force anyone to submit to their viewpoint. More of just offering -if the waitress in your restaurant offers you ketchup and steak sauce with your meal, you're not going to freak out and report her for pushing Heinz products on ya, would you? -But once again, this observation is based solely upon that video. Okay, maybe he didn't say "his" ethics (I didn't quote it verbatim) BUT do you really think he didn't mean his "own" ethics?? His "beliefs"? I agree that holding people to ethics isn't bad BUT if a Jehovah's Witness told me I had to follow their belief that it's not ethical to have a blood transfusion when I needed one, and said I was unethical for having one, I'd have a problem with that. Long hair (yes, at the time he HAD a mullet), beard, t-shirt with some trashy thing on it, jeans, chain on the wallet, big ass boots ... He answered the door. There were 3 of them there. 2 teenagers and a young fella about 11 or 12. They gave their spiel and then made the mistake of asking "is there anything we can do for you?" He said (in a rather gruff voice) "Yeah, leave the kid." They never came back. And yes, he's a skydiver (my first instructor as a matter a fact!) I LOVE him! Is that what they call ESP and OBE thingies? Anyhoo...the Wikipedia reference is a long read and interesting, and terribly unflattering to the Mr. Hubbard guy.
