Transportation INSecurity Administration

Recommended Posts

More great work by more FRIENDS of the Administration[:/]

The report, prepared at the request of Chairman Henry Waxman, accuses the TSA of "poor procurement practices, conflicts of interest, and weak oversight." It finds that the company hired to design the site, Desyne Web Services in Virginia, was awarded a "no-bid" contract, that the TSA official in charge of the site was a former employee of the contractor, and that the TSA did not detect the security issues for months.

I wonder how much of a "donation" to the right wing does it take to get one of these deals to raid the treasury.

How many BILLIONs have the Friends of the Administration made from the American Taxpayer again???

You say that no bid contracts dont exist.. yet they keep raising their ugly head... over and over..:S

Didn't GWB himself walk away with some $17M or so, generously provided by the taxpayers of Arlington, TX?

Wow... so now a no-bid contract to design the TSA website is the issue of the day??? Things must be going pretty damn well if that's all you can come up with.

Reading the linked article on the House report, the concluding lines reminded me of a ‘fun’ (read: dripping sarcasm) incident I had late last year.

Was flying home from someplace that wasn’t DC or NYC, was tired (perhaps not thinking as wisely as possible), and while waiting to board my flight I was reading the latest issue of a journal (peer-reviewed :)
Well, one of my fellow passengers apparently found that suspicious or at least of enough concern to alert ‘the authorities.’

“Excuse me miss, would you speak with us for a moment?”

{Look up to see airport security and TSA agent.}
Short series of expletives runs through my mind.

“Yes, sirs, how can I help you?”

{Condensed version}: Another passenger in the waiting area alerted airport security concerned about what I was reading. :o:S
At least it wasn’t bad poetry.

I show them my boarding pass (with my name on) and flip open the inside cover of the journal: I’m on the journal’s editorial board so my name’s listed on the masthead.

Authorities are (reasonably) satisfied I’m not a threat to federal aviation based on my choice of reading material.
