SICK of hearing about the US Elections!

Recommended Posts

I'm SOOOOOO SICK of hearing about the bloody American elections. They were banging on about which multi-millionaire corrupt waste of space was ahead in whichever hick county it was and underneath the report was telling me about the REAL news. WTF can't the Yanks just bloody well get on with it and let us know which berk they chose after the elections like the rest of the world do?

Avoiding CNN!

Thing is we tend to hear all about the soundbites, CHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGECHANGE... Why is it that all we hear is them slagging each other off and spouting soundbites where are their policies?
Also I can't get my head around what exactly they are doing, I mean why don't the democrates and the Republican parties just vote all at once or at their central office to nominate a candidate and then vote for who they want as president? Whats going on I just don't get it. Maybe if I did I'd find it more interesting. I also don't understand that people get so passionate about a sleezeball polititian that they are willing to chuck their jobs in some cases to work for the candidates for FREE in some cases and follow them all over the bloody big country. Its weird.

As a foreigner in the US I was a little bit unfamiliar with the time schedule of their elections. So after all the ruckus in the media about the elections I read up a bit about it and my reaction was.... WTF the actual real elections are in nearly a Year from now? This circus will go on for a YEAR???? >:(:S

This "Circus" goes on for 4 years.

It also restarts every 4 years.

We sometimes get a small break on the day after the actual elections. But not normally.

It would be more fun if jello were involved in that fight.

Robert Kennedy announced his candidacy for president in June 1968. We only had a few months of this in those days.

Bloody? Thus far, they've been peaceful. We hear a lot more about bloody elections in other places.

Hick county? I'll put New Hampshire teeth against a British smile any day! And yeah, they are all mulitmillionaires and most are corrupt. However, New Hampshire ain't no hick county. Crackers? Yes. And a few peckerwoods. But no hicks.

Only if the Reps lose - if the Dems lose, we get to hear about all the fraud that HAD to have happened because they didn't win...:P

So what do you want us to do exactly?

It's your media that chooses to follow our elections. Or if you're watching CNN, your choice to watch a US news channel.

With the states all leapfrogging each other, the election cycle will basically be over by March and then be quiet until the conventions in the summer, and then the election will restart in earnest by September.

Sorry, we're not going to adopt the parliamentary approach where the legislative elections also settle the executive side.

We, who are influenced by the the technological age, have been reduced to soundbites. We see it in the news all the time. One reporter comes up with a catchphrase, and the next thing you know, every single reporter is using it. It's as if no one really wants to think for themselves.

It is supposed to be a govt. of, for,and by the people.
Most of the time, after a politician is elected, they start doing things the way they want to. They no longer truly represent the people who put them into office.
Can you imagine the corruption and in fighting if politicians were responsible to pick their successors?

Sounds like YOU need to stop watching so much tv then. Heck, I haven't heard ANYTHING about the US elections beyond what I have sought out.

But then I don't watch ANY tv, and am, therefore, out of most loops.
