kallend 2,184 #1 January 1, 2008 From "The Flock" mailing list: Dear Family and Friends, I am in need of care packages. I don't need chocolate, candy, cookies, magazines, or pictures from home. I need blankets. Today I was out at the C-17 Medi-vac that transports wounded soldiers to Germany for further care. I was talking to the nurse that coordinates everything and I asked her about a little girl that had been shot and brought here by her parents. I was asking if they needed any stuffed animals for the many children that end up here in need of help, and she said that they have plenty of things to make children's stay a little more bearable. So I asked if there was anything other way I could help her and she only said one word, "blankets". The wounded only have the wool-like army blankets and said if I could locate soft, twin size blankets, it would be great. My call to action over the next week; if you have any twin size blankets in good shape or could stop by Sears or Wal-Mart and get a soft blanket for our Balad wounded, I would greatly appreciate it. If you will email me to let me know you sent one, I will keep the packages here until I know I have them all and then deliver them to the hospital. Please pass this forward to any other friends or family that may be able to help. My Address is: Capt. Taylor Adams 721 AMOG/DET 5 (AMC) APO AE 09315-9997 Thanks in advance for you help and compassion, Taylor P.S. I drive a big GMC pick-up truck and would love to bring it over to the hospital FULL... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
