Conservatives and liberals and family

My brother Ben and I have hated each other since we've been alive (he more than I, and for 41 years). He's a military guy, and I'm not so into that. But I'm proud of him. He hates that I'm a liberal...though I'm not completely (actually kinda far from it, but not in his eyes). And I hate his irrational conservativism...though he's probably not, entirely, that.

Googled his name tonight, and here's what I found. This and this. I'm proud of him. I often disagree with him in a way that makes me think of him as almost not human. And he's the same way with me. But he's GOOD. Wish we could see more of that in the people we disagree with. That's all.

You need to give your Brother a big hug this Christmas, and tell him you love him. Keep the politics to yourselves and just enjoy being a family for the first time.

It's funny,
My older sister and I are in the same boat, I'm the screaming liberal, she is a conservative.....

Really, we are in the same situation, makes for good conversation at holiday dinners.

Me, cop and military guy (what a combo).
Her, psychologist and (somewhat) a bleeding heart liberal.
