For those of you who like Ron Paul . . .

Ah, so you like him because of the cute videos on youtube?

:P

I'm just curious... I see a lot of people saying "I like Ron Paul" or "Ron Paul has my vote" or simply posting links to various websites or articles about him. But I don't see many people giving particular reasons for why they personally like him.

Because he is the closest to my political beliefs.

Limited central government.
More power to the states.

The republicans and the Dems are BOTH about growing the government and spend, spend, spend. THey differ on what to spend money we don't have, but both parties are similar thought processes and methodoligies, just different priorities.

That says it. A guy who would take the job as the most powerful man in the world, and then go about slashing his power. THAT is a man to be respected.

I don't agree with him on everything. But I agree with the gist of what the guy does. He won't get the Republican nod. But he'd be an amazing 3rd party candidate. He'd really open a dialogue about whether the US gubment is bigger than it should be.

His words are consistent with his voting record.

He answers questions clearly and logically.

He is honest, and acts and speaks with conviction.

He has the ability to bring people together.

He respects the Constitution and he represents 'we the people.'

If you depend on the television to be informed, you will learn next to nothing about him. You can watch this for starters, if you have the time -- might answer your question.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I think Ross' intentions with the Admiral were good, but the Admiral was obviusly an operations guy and not a politician. However, getting back on thread... I also think Ron Paul's intentions are honorable, but too wide a swatch of causes for too short a period of time. I'd rather see the next President do 2 or 3 major tasks and keep their campaign promise, than to suggest we pull out of the Middle East, wipe out the FBI, CIA, DHS, this that, etc. Tearing down a building can take a couple of weeks, building a new structure after it comes down requires a good architect, solid planning and usually more time than most presidencies.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Sounds like Ross Perot...but nobody liked him. Maybe it was the ears.

I would trust Perot with my life ... remember how he got his employees out of Iran in 1979? ... but I was more hesitant to trust him with my country.

Damn... Well, I guess I won't get Amazon's vote if I ever decide to run. :(

Being from Texas, of course I'm exactly like George W.; you can hardly tell the two of us apart! :P

Is that the level of thought you put into how to cast your vote? What a joke of a voter.
Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful.

It is based on the attitudes and past performance of "presidents" from that wonderful state...

What I like about him is the idea of less government. When he says he will cut spending I actually believe him. We align well in our ideals regarding USA currently playing world police. I dont agree with him on abortion. I think abortion is a choice, but I also dont find that issue to be a big deal for me. Pulling out of Iraq is a good idea. I think he would actually do it rather then flap his gums about it. He mentiones that currently our president has to much power. I agree. Less government means less presidential power, and that's a good thing.

I like Ron Paul.
I agree with him on most issues. I think he best represents what a president should be.
He understands the constitution and also understands that it should be the law of the land and put way ahead of personal opinion. I feel he is genuine and his voting records show that he is a man of his word.

I like people who do what they say and say what they do. Also his decision-making is based on logic.
I think thats what we need.

I listened to him last night in the debate and liked what he had to say when he was allowed to say anything.... BUT.....the RNC will never allow him anywhere near a ballot with his name with an R after it.... IF he runs a third party ticket like Ross P did.... I think he would do well... and distance himself from the puppet masters
( and the far right wing of the so called Republican Party) who have so many strings on so many of the other candidates there on that stage.

He at least KNOWS what the New World Order is.. and who the people on that stage are who support it...at some point the Trilateralists.. need to be taken out and SHOT... all of them>:(>:(>:(

They are the people who are behind keeping the world as it is.. with very few people pulling the strings..from the world corporate elites who run this sham of a show... and who make trillions on the suffering their puppets can get us into... so they can make more money off that suffering.

Apparently he did well with CNN.com readers. Check out the responses in the right hand column.

I think this is his only option. There is no way he gets the Rep nomination. What I predict he will do is run on a third party ticket as either a Libertarian or an Independent. I also predict that we will have a suprise outcome. This is the first time in history of the world that the internet is being utilized as a means of campaigning and for grass roots movements specifically focused on this 2008 presidential election. Some candidates are doing a great job taking advantage of it. I also predict that we will see a huge turn out of young voters this time. Why...2 reasons - 1. internet and 2. young people are quite fed up with the current administration, and being young they are more driven to make change.

Here is an example that I like. I saw this in an interview with him on CNN. Ron Paul voted against the government providing the Congressional Medal of Freedom for Rosa Parks. Out of 400+ voters he was the only one to vote against it. He mentioned this was one of the hardest decisions he ever made. He then explained why. He does not beleive that the tax payers need to pay for this medal. Instead he suggested while voting to have all voters present to throw $100 each to cover the cost of the medal. Of course no one did. In the end his decision was based on what he believes is appropriate for tax payers to pay for.

That’s what I love about him.
He takes his responsibilities very seriously.
The thought of him becoming the next president actually excites me. It is not like the last one where I was emotionless. I truly believe he can or will at least try to make a difference.

Barry Goldwater, back in 1960, predicted that someone like Ron Paul would come along:
------------------------------
Barry Goldwater Predicts Ron Paul
Posted by Lew Rockwell at November 29, 2007 11:23 AM

"The turn will come when we entrust the conduct of our affairs to the men who understand that their first duty as public officials is to divest themselves of the power that they have been given. It will come when Americans, in hundreds of communities throughout the nation, decide to put the man in office who is pledged to enforce the Constitution and restore the Republic. Who will proclaim in a campaign speech: 'I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel the old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is “needed” before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents’ “interests,” I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can.'”
