What is a "sheep"?

It seems these days that people are fond of referring to others as "sheep", but what exactly is a "sheep"? One form is the 4-legged wooly critter that hangs out in a pasture, but that is not the kind I mean.
If someones values and beliefs happen to mirror those of a leader does that automatically make them a sheep?
What if, to not be considered a sheep a person must go against their values.
But, on the other hand, if a person goes against popular thinking to be like others who go against the grain, does that not make them a sheep that differs only in who they follow?
I think there are some interesting opinions floating around.

I'll probably get lambasted for this..... but the definition of a 'sheep' is very wooly but around here, it mostly depends upon which cliche you're in.

Anyway, I can't stay around here spinning yarns with y'all, I've got work to do so, I'll get the flock out of here for a while or move to another thread (didn't see that looming, did ya?)

Well, if you're an atheist/agnostic, then religious people are sheep. If you're a Democrat, then the Republicans are sheep. If you like guns, then the people who want more gun control are sheep. If you're a skydiver, then whuffos are sheep. Etc., etc., etc. Basically, it's a meaningless slur to make the self-proclaimed "enlightened" feel better about themselves. (At least that's what I've gathered from reading this site.) Or sometimes it's just used in silliness . . .

Joking aside, I think that a 'Sheep' is someone who doesn't question. Who just takes one scource (like the strategy page) and bases their entire belifes around that without looking any further or questioning the information. Not disagree with me by all means but at least make sure you've got a sound basis for that opinion based on more than one viewpoint. Otherwise go to the top of that cliff lay on your back while I get my welly bots and my velcroe gloves SEE!

to simply blindly follow someone else's guide would be my interpretation...whether that apply to rules, laws, beliefs, etc...not standing up for your own thoughts and beliefs.

I love using that term, as it is an accurate description for most people as most follow and do not lead.

A sheep needs a shepherd and will follow the shepherd even to slaughter. A sheep can’t make up his/her own mind, but will die for the ideas that have been placed in it’s little head, A sheep makes decisions and will not change there point of view or opinion no matter what the facts are.

Yep. "They are unthinking sheep, whereas I am a self-enlightened individual who questions authority and thinks for myself!" The term has become as meaningless as the term "fascist" did in Orwell's day.
