Taking Science on Faith

Recommended Posts

Thank you for such a good explanation. The crowd that takes one too many freshman philosophy classes before moving on to a real education are usually the people parroting the "What is reality" and "Nothing is real" rubbish.

People make the mistake of extrapolating fundamentals of quantum mechanics into the everyday world where rocks are big solid heavy objects; even if research in particle physics says they are mostly empty space.

It is also good to remember that while some of our ancients broke new ground, and set the mechanics of the scientific method or other avenues of inquiry into motion; many of their specific ideas were at best mind games, and often turned out to be utter claptrap.

…energy…I don't know anything about it.

It's not these trivial similarities that are being denied. In fact I am asserting that these similarities are just that.

I never implied the similarities were significant. I just was not in denial that such similarities existed.

Thanks for the science review, though.

What other things do you think about?

Lots of things, im naturally quite inquisitive and find the topic of belief systems and religion / the supernatural quite fascinating…

Fascinating in the way that SO many people believe in the supernatural despite the absolute and overwhelming lack of evidence to support it.. Why is this… is it in our DNA?? Are we as a race that desperate for there to be “something else” out there, a after life, a parallel universe..

Anyway Back to Adam and Eve….

What evidence do you have to show that they existed??? Please do not attempt to tell us that we are all ancestors of a single pair of Homosapiens, as that is quite absurd.

Ok so lets look at it another way, basic mathematical reasoning, based on generation times and population sizes, tells us that humanity's most recent common female & male ancestress lived well before the biblical Adam & Eve supposedly did, or before the biblical creation. That in sufficient in itself to disprove the biblical tale of Adam and Eve, and thus the myth of the “original sin” and therefore prove yet again the Christian story of Christ is a MYTH…

It is only logical to me that there is a lot more out there than what we see now. If who we are today is the result of what started 13.7 billion years ago, either by chance occurrence or Divine Design, then we could be only the beginning. The Bible says we will become sons of God .

I have no evidence. So I can not prove if they did or did not exist. Although I have learned some important lessons from their story.

I agree with you that the history of our species goes a lot farther back than 6000 years. The genealogy in Matthew is where that time frame is derived. It is one of many areas of the Bible that I don't understand. Some Bible passages were added later by well meaning scribes trying to help God out. This may have been one of those, who knows?
