I would hope that this latest monumental bollock-dropping session would at least manage to sink the governments own plans for ID cards, but it wouldn't suprise me if they blundered on with it anyway. nigel99 625 #2 November 21, 2007 Yip 26million records posted on enencrypted CD's. Someone also pointed out - what the hell did the NAO need the bank details for anyway? In the UK we are suffering from boiled frog syndrome and when we wake up it will be to late The ID card argument is so weak it is laughable - except I get the feeling that it will "find" its way onto the statute book... kelpdiver 2 #5 November 21, 2007 what does an ID card really contribute over what already exists? Lots of us find the privacy implications creepy. Others remember the old Commie line: "Papers?" I carry a dog tag for the possibility of getting in an accident by myself.

And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a "recreational vehicle." And drive from state to state. Do they let you do that? Captain Ramius: I suppose. Capt. Vasili Borodin: No papers? Captain Ramius: No papers, state to state. Capt. Vasili Borodin: Well then, in winter I will live in... Arizona. Actually, I think I will need two wives. JackC 0 #8 November 21, 2007 QuoteWhy are the English so set against an ID card Many reasons, but the government have just LOST the entire CPS database containing the name, address, national insurance numbers and bank details of 25 million people. That should be cause enough to make you think that the government cannot be trusted with that information. The real question is why isn't everyone opposed to ID cards. http://www.no2id.net/IDSchemes/whyNot.php
