Amazon 7 #1 November 20, 2007 So for 4 years I have been called a terroist sympathizer and unpatriotic by the same person for pointing out what I consider to be racist remarks.....and I do believe that is what this is. --------------------------------------------- Edited to remove said racist remarks. From the rules: ------------------ Posts that contain material that we deem to be blatantly or unnecessarily racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, pornographic, or otherwise offensive, may be removed. That means no comments about towelheads or sand niggers, and no gratuitous attacks on a race or religion. There is much discussion going on about the role of Islam in the Iraq war / the 9-11 attacks etc and that's fine. But a few people have been pushing the limits of that lately. This is fair warning that it won't be tolerated any more. ------------------

steveorino 7 #4 November 21, 2007 Perhaps "quotes" would have made the mods statement more palatable. Then it would have read ... That means no comments about "towelheads" or "sand niggers", and no gratuitous attacks on a race or religion. ... As it stood -- it appears to do more harm than it was trying to prevent. steveOrino

Also banned (I thought) are posts about another specific poster Billvon - instead of jumping on the bandwagon with Jeanne again on this topic, how about just trashcanning this whole thread? I'm not thrilled with either one of them on this topic. It's turned into a bunch of sniping and PAs. It'll either turn into a bunch more sniping. Or, just a free for all attack on (**) on his old comments by a bunch of people trying to pat themselves on the back for being so enlightened. Or, two people complaining in a public thread about PMs to each other (which are easy enough to block and ignore). nothing productive either way (Ok - you can all falsely claim that I now am in some odd way supporting (**) now so you can pretend to be superior..) ... rehmwa 2 #7 November 21, 2007 It's idiodic. Does that count? I'm neither outraged, amused, or effected in any way other than the complete waste of my time. Which I'd waste anyway. It really reflects poorly on the bleached-no-nutrition-pastry industry by relating a race based comment, with "fatty fatty two by four disadvantaged" Culinary-Americans and then a non-race, but religious based holocaust/Nazi reference. I think it's an anti-marketing campaign against Pillsbury spearheaded by Heinz, Betty Crocker, and Halliburton. Pillsbury should be pissed. seriously - In any of these cases, I find just acknowledging the shear childishness of biased attitudes to be much more effective than self righteous indignation or lecturing. In other words, laugh at the assholes, don't get bent out of shape or even try to 'educate' them. I really doubt the sincerity of those. They go away and they lose momentum faster. But still, don't mess with my cresent rolls. I live for empty calories ... Amazon 7 #8 November 21, 2007 So.. Basically you are ok with a certain user... posting PMs ( PM's.. not POSTS for everyone to read.. you know the old TAKE IT TO PM's) ... where I was pointing out how racist his remarks are... BUT when I post links to those posts.. that is not ok.... because its on the wrong side of YOUR political spectrum OK...... rehmwa 2 #9 November 21, 2007 nonsense - posting PMs is way out of line no matter what the content or the purpose - I've posted that position so many times, I just ignored it when Juansky did it last week. I crossed him off of my pay attention to list 4 years ago. about the time I stopped taking you seriously for the same reasons - I don't enjoy posting with people that just poke sticks at beehives for shock value. though I do understand the whole "But, MOM, HE did it FIRST" argument as for the rest of your post - good luck with the whole falsely putting words on my keyboard - I really hate that. When you post seriously, I really like your comments. Unfortunately, you'd rather do this 95% of the time. (Don't you ever wonder why so many people of both sides of the spectrum make this same comment? are they all conspiring against you?) You two need to get a private room or just block PMs - even better, just don't send them to each other. ...
