Care to actually break down the numbers for the ADMINISTRATION... they are the ones who dreamt up this cluster-fuck that you seem to love so much..I keep referring to them....and you bring up Congressional numbers.. a non-sequitur.

Also since you love that list.. how many were in the reserves and National Guard.. when there was LITTLE chance of any kind of deployment for your vaunted list... Just like your Incompetent in Chief.. many of your R's "serving" were also in champagne units for good little rich white boys.

I hear there are some sweet contract positions at Balad....by the way.....$275K+ was the last one offered to me:S

You want the info, YOU find out and enlighten us. You keep referring to cowardly Republicans - let me remind you it was CONGRESS that authorized use of force, that same Congress that, since 2001, has had MORE "cowardly Republicans" that served than "brave Democrats".

Sort of makes the REAL "Chickenhawks" the Democrats, doesn't it? Sending those kids that are "too dumb to go to college"paraphrase> off to be killed while not serving, themselves.

Hell, all those conservative soldiers tied up over there, not being able to get absentee ballots in good order or being killed so they're not able to vote... makes the liberals that stayed home (except the ones that ran to Canada) an even more powerful voting block...sounds like a lib's wet dream come election time.

Well does that make you happy?

No, it make me very unhappy to see the way this venal, incompetent CinC has so demoralized the services that the number of deserters has increased so dramatically.

Tell us what you think and quit quoting news stories to veil your own beliefs.

Like This guy

and

This guy?

Pretty hypocritical to criticize me for doing what you do so often.

This shows you are incapable of understanding the english language....

chicken as in coward
hawk.. as in pro war

so we have a whole bunch of young republicans that since WWII that are defined with that term PRO WAR.. and vehemently so.......yet they are too fucking chicken to go themselves.

http://www.symbolman.com/chickenhawks.html

Oh and since most Dems are opposed to this war.. that takes all the hot air in your balloon there bubba...some might be chicken.. but they sure as hell aint hawks..... that certainly makes for FAR less hypocrisy.

Then again with all the sexual proclivities coming to light( out of the closet one way or another) of your republican leaders.. I doubt if many of them would have been able to stay in the active duty forces.....they would have been given bad conduct discharges for being gay.

Or... how about opposed to wars of convienience...perhaps THEY actually learned something from Vietnam after all...

ONLY go to war when you have the moral high ground....like Afghanistan.

MOST Americans supported that.. me included.. go after the people who killed our people.

Your Boy did not find any oil there.... no Texas Tea so start a war of convienience on trumped up charges.. WELL DONE Republicans.

Some people are just too fucking stupid to learn from history.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it show up in the recruiting numbers, sorry... looks like that idea isn't very valid either.... no droves of Dems crowding the recruiting stations to go serve in Afghanistan... or much of anywhere else, for that matter.

Yep. She is very picky in regards to whom she acknowledges as being a military servicemember. Never mind if a NG-reserve soldier/sailor is actually a war veteran, much les her hatred for GW would not allow her to see that he actually served in the military, making her comments without merit.

Do you want to include those whose voting decision had to be based on false intelligence provided by the White House?

Seems the Army has had to lower its standards to get anyone to enlist.

Chicago Tribune, 3:24 PM CDT, October 11, 2007
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army met its recruiting goals for the last year but enlisted thousands of new soldiers with criminal records and fewer who have earned high school diplomas, according to figures released Wednesday.

The spike of new enlistees given "character" waivers for fiscal 2007 continues a steady upward trend in the number of recruits with past arrests and convictions allowed into the Army since the start of the war in Iraq.

More than 11 percent of the Army recruits needed waivers for problems with the law -- up from 7.9 percent the previous year and more than double the percentage in 2003, the year the U.S. invaded Iraq. Maj. Gen. Thomas Bostick, commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, stressed that a vast majority, about 87 percent, of those allowed in with waivers had misdemeanors for such offenses as joy riding or violating curfew. Most faced little punishment beyond community service for their actions, Bostick said.

But at the same time, the number of enlistees with felony convictions and arrests in their pasts has increased. In 2003, the Army allowed 459 enlistees with felony arrests and convictions into the service compared to 1,620 this past year. The startling figures come at a time when the Army is trying to grow amid persistent questions about how the armed forces can increase force size during a time of war without significantly lowering the quality of recruits.

you know Kallend, that article you just poted has brough up the exact reason that I no longer wish to stay in my unit. IMO the military has gone to shit in the last few years, my career field especially. I've noticed lately that the discipline that used to be instilled in soldiers in basic has gone away because people are afraid to get in some little shitbirds ass when they fuck up for fear of that little puke calling their congressman to complain. I've seen more soldiers mouthing off to NCO's lately, unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of having a young soldier mouth off to me in the last few years and think they can get away with it, I wonder why;).

I'm fucking sick of being in a military that's going to shit and being surrounded by worthless pukes that think it's ok to get out of deployments by faking injuries, coming up with bullshit family problems, getting pregnant at conveniantly the right time, or just running away.

I just about lose my mind everytime I leave my compound and go somewhere on post filled with regular Army soldiers. at least I'm headed somewhere that will keep me away from this shit.

Sounds rather like the reason my son gave for not re-enlisting again. Until 2005 he had planned to be career military.

you believe this with every fiber of your being even though there is ZERO evidence to support it. that seems very odd for a physicist. i guess the right has their dogma and the left has theirs.

And what or where was he the last year of his "service"

Most people who serve like that get jail time or Dishonorable discharges...

Tell us about all the WMDs they found in Iraq then.

Tell us about the centifuge tubes for the Iraqi Nuke program (Cheney).

Tell us about the yellowcake from Niger (Bush, SOTU Address 2003).

Tell us about the Iraqi pilotless aircraft that could hit the US in 45 minutes (Bush, Rose Garden speech Sept 2002)

Tell us about "We know where they are" (Rumsfeld on Iraqi WMDS).

Tell us about the mobile biowarfare labs that Powell showed the UN.

Tell us how Iraq had the wherewithal to develop weaponized smallpox (Powell, Feb 2003).

ALL of those turned out to be bogus. ALL OF THEM.

the white house did not make up the intelligence, which we know now to be faulty. if they did, myself, along with likely 95% of americans would like to see the administration in prison for life, but as i've said, there's ZERO evidence to support that. you are so blinded by your white-hot hatred toward this administration that you are letting your emotions get in the way of logic and reason.

acting on faulty intelligence and lying are two totally different things.

Cherry picking certain "facts" from the intellegence.. that support what you want to do.. and leaving out the REST OF THE STORY...as Paul
Harvey would say......is indeed a lie. Such falsehoods led us into a war that did not need to be fought... to give numerous PNAC Friends of the Administration to do just what they have done.. to loot BILLIONS from the American people.

Oh.. but the oil will pay for the war:S:S

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=2621 :S

Then there was Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz's prediction last spring that Iraqi oil revenues would pay all the costs of reconstructing the country. Instead, we have already spent nearly $20 billion in reconstruction aid -- with no end in sight.

Uh so that has not worked out so well now has it..

cherry picking, while wrong, isn't lying. bush and cheney aren't the only ones with access to intelligence. congress also has access to the intelligence and has the responsibility to check it for themselves. if there's evidence that bush and cheney sat in some back room and manipulated the national intelligence estimate so that congress only got info that supported war, you'll be able to sway my opinion. its more likely that our fine senators and representatives didn't even read it. remember that at the time we entered this war, the country was very supportive of it.
