Biodiesel usage in turbine engines

One wonders what the cost per gal of Jet A vs BioD is.

As far as production costs go I think it depends on what you make the biodiesel from. The US is trying hard to make it from corn whereas Cuba and Brazil make it from sugar, which has a much higher carbohydrate value and is thus much cheaper for a given energy value. Of course corn is what the US grows and corn is what gets mid-west congressmen elected.

Biodiesel in general or for turbines?

In general there is a LOT of experience with biodiesel and SVO (straight vegetable oil, or unprocessed biodiesel) in internal combustion engines. They've been using it in diesels since 1892.

There has not yet been much experience with biodiesel usage in aviation turbines, though. I'd expect a lot of research to be done, and then small percentages (5% biodiesel/95% JP4) at first.

I was thinking biodiesel in general but obviously I'm wrong...

I was thinking it would be cool to drop some breaded chicken strips into my car engine and, by the time I get to work, have some crispy, tasty treats.
