billvon 3,120 #2 October 29, 2007 It's not just happening in Georgia. We're seeing droughts all across the US, from Florida to San Diego. It's likely they will not get better, as weather patterns change, cities grow, people eat more and more and put in things like bigger lawns and artificial ponds. Some things you can do: -Fix leaks! #1 water waster. -Go to xeriscaped yards that can survive on the rainfall you get. -Go to low flow showerheads and more efficient toilets. -Put in a graywater system and irrigate with that water (works best on citrus and roses.) -If you do retain any grass, go to a lower water usage variety. -Push for water recycling in your area. -If you live near the coast, push for desalination plants (especially near powerplants, where they can use the waste heat.) -Cover pools/spas when not used. -Don't wash your car in your driveway; commercial car washes in many states recycle most of the water they use. No doubt, his pals in the oil water industry are getting rich, while those suburbanites watch their well financed lawns turn brown and die. Oh, the humanity!!!!
