ltdiver 3 #6 February 20, 2008 Resurrecting and old thread because the few who read and posted may not have realized the OP was actually onto something. These guns are real and have law enforcement questioning how to address this threat. I mean, a kid points a 'toy gun' at a cop, what do they do? IS IT A TOY, or a legally painted REAL GUN in their hands? Watch this segment: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/02/19/resnik.painted.guns.kpnx ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
dannydan 5 #7 February 20, 2008 """" LEO needs to address this from BEHIND their unit (squad car).... Glad you brought this back uP because it IS a real serious problem for LEO, the children, the parents and SOCIETY as a whole! The PARENTS are NOT doing their number 1 job if they allow their kids this as a toy, or ALLOW a toy gun to be altered by painting over. The toy manufacutures COMPLIED with the pleas of LEOs and PARENTS and teachers to change the apperence of toy guns by putting on the neon orange muzzles, that wasnt good enuf after awhile and then decide to drastically change the toy to ALL neon colors. It sucks b/c in a childs eye it is not REAL enough which MAY make the child want to paint over it... THIS IS WHERE THE PARENTING COMES IN!!!! LEO has already PROVEN that they WILL shoot (even a kid) if it looks like they are going to be shot at themselves.... My video plyr is down so i cant watch the segment.. But I hope that i drive home the SHEER IMPORTANCE of this issue with ANY skydiving parents that have these toys in their house to NOT allow the brightly colored toy replica weapons to be altered by painting over them at all... ltdiver 3 #8 February 20, 2008 QuoteMy video plyr is down so i cant watch the segment.. Too bad your player's down. If you'd been able to see the segment you'd see that what they're really upset about is that ADULTS are sending in their REAL guns to be colorfully painted...to look like toy guns. Legally! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
dannydan 5 #9 February 20, 2008 I cant for the life of understand why someone would want to do that to weapon unless of course it is a "gag" for a buddy or it is a junker gun... The price for that HK AK-47 is $1072.00!! NOT ME man, i have pull uP cords to buy!... lol But anyway! I hope people get my points tho! And if any of our brother/sisterhood has non skydiving friends that are parents, they should also be informed.... Because when that COP sqeezes that trigger, it TOO late to be a parent any longer to that dead child... all b/c of a "lookalike" toy gun!!!! I am NOT in no way trying to bash anyone here or tell parents how to parent, but our society is changeing so rapidly anymore that there are certain COMMON SENSE items that are not being taught/passed on to the kids and we will all end uP losing in the end.... THX again Lori....
ltdiver 3 #10 February 20, 2008 QuoteI cant for the life of understand why someone would want to do that to weapon... Think like a criminal and how this -might- give them the edge. Just a split second hesitation by a cop, wondering if he's shooting a kid with a toy, and the gang member wins. Cop down...Dead. Makes me sick to think of it. You sound like a very involved and great parent! Keep spreading the word on how to raise kids these days. More need to hear your hard won wisdom. You're on the right track. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Zenister 0 #12 February 20, 2008 QuoteI cant for the life of understand why someone would want to do that to weapon... same reason skydivers want 'matching gear' personal statements and setting themselves apart from the 'crowd at the range' most people are not thinking about tactical applications with personal firearms.____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
