freeflybella 0 #26 October 19, 2007 I'm not saying Ellen is a bad person. Or that she didn't have the best interests of everyone involved at heart. It must suck to feel like you have to give a dog back to a shelter after 'rescuing' him. My inclination would be to find a good home for it to. I also agree with you that there aren't any winners here. Out of all the things that happened - there are 2 things that are really really bad: 1- the kid got a dog and then had it taken away. Hopefully someone explained the real reason and helped her make honest sense of it. 2- Ellen brought bad press (and apparently death threats) to an organization whose mission it is to teach compassion, and that companion animals aren't disposable - and to rescue those animals in need. A good/safe home for animals is more imposrtant than the whims of people. I would also hope that every effort is made to return that dog to the family Ellen gave it to. If not, I'd also hope there is a good reason why. Next, Ellen should be apologizing to Mutts and Moms. EDited: On second thought ... Death and arson threats?!. Ellen is fucking insane for going on national TV and weeping and sobbing and begging. Insane. She ruined that business. She could've handled it in about 500 different ways. Yes please, what was the "real" reason to separate a kid and her dog? ... PLFXpert 0 #28 October 19, 2007 Quote Ellen is fucking insane for going on national TV and weeping and sobbing and begging. Oh dear.Ellen has a daily TV showed viewed by millions of people and an obligation to do the show. Sometimes when we're emotional--no matter how hard we try--we can't hide it. Anyone in a position such as hers is bound to have a whack day. I can't speak for her, but I'd be willing to bet in retrospect she'd have considered your 500 alternatives. Since that day, she has equally if not more pleaded for the death threats to cease. She repeats the mistake is/was hers. I agree it was not the right thing to do to make a plea on her show. I think it would have been totally appropriate to cry if she could not contain her emotions, but maybe have kept her speech down to a shout. I.e. left the "Please give the dog back to the family" part out of it. The rest of her "sobbing & weeping" speech was fine to me. She wasn't publicly bashing Mutts and Moms. She explained how she made a mistake and felt completely responsible for another's loss b/c of it. Great. Now we know why Ellen's sad today. On with the show. No pleas. I rarely support the plight of celebs. And I admit I'm biased here, b/c I like Ellen. She's funny. Although she's becoming a bit too political for my taste this season. Anywho, what was I saying? Oh yea--don't normally support celebs. But, I think "fucking insane" is a bit harsh. Just a little. Harsh. Edited for too many commas.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. riddler 0 #33 October 21, 2007 Don't mean to sound like a grumpy old man (OK, maybe I do), but: In my day, when someone didn't like their dog, they frequently shot the dog. In my grandmother's day, dogs were sometimes part of the menu (especially young pups - it was the depression, after all). Seems like to me, if someone gives an animal they don't want to keep to a loving home, then who cares?Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

ElJosh 0 #36 October 21, 2007 The "big deal" is a breach of contract on Ellen’s part. Is the content of the contract retarded. . .I think so, but that isn't what the issue is. Ellen signed something that she didn't read or adhere to and now she is in boo-who's-ville over it. Just like the waivers that skydivers sign. You can't come back and tell the DZO that you didn't know this or that because you didn't read it. IMO Ellen tried to use her celebrity status to strong arm the organization. I think that the M&M company is retarded but Ellen agreed to a contract and then broke the agreement to said contract. This is my long winded response of agreeing with tony/chris. ~El Josh AKA Ruby Now lets quit wasting our time on this and worry about important stuff like Britney and her kids!
