How about you provide a link instead just claiming you got it right.

This is funny. So many of you want to believe this "gotcha" incident so badly that you can't see it's nothing more than hyped up bullshit.
Kind of like Al Gore being a complete hypocrite. I can get someone saying - "Yeah, he's a bit of a hypocrite. So what? His overall impact far outweigh his personal excesses. I can live with it." But no. You guys steadfastly act like there's no hypocrisy.
It seems you a little to wrapped up in your ideology to admit your hero's failings.

Back when the whole Clinton/Monica scandal broke, my mom (who is quite liberal) said "I'm pretty disgusted by all this, but I still support him because he still has so many positives".
Too bad so many lefties around here seem incapable of that kind of honesty.

QuoteYou posted the transcripts of Limbaugh’s explanation (revision of history) aired the following day. I read the original transcript in its entirety (Bill posted the relevant part) and saw the video for myself, and to anyone with a modicum intellectual integrity, there is no doubt that Limbaugh called Iraqi war veterans who oppose the war phony soldiers. Limbaugh was not talking about Jesse MacBeth as he claimed the following day.
Phil
You know, I heard it live, heard the recordings, read the transcripts and, as a soldier, know that Limbaugh meant nothing of the sort of what you just cited here.
Within a minute of him acknowledging the caller, he brought up Jessie MacBeth. In fact, in his morning brief before that call, he talked about MacBeth (I heard that too).
As an active duty soldier, I never thought for a second he was being "anti-troops". I knew exactly what he was talking about.

Does 12 Captains trump 7 82nd ABN NCOs?
Posted By Uncle Jimbo
Based on their NY Times Op-Ed, "The Way We Saw It" (which I have to admit that I totally missed), the 7 NCOs concur w/the 12 Army O-3s.
While not as specific in its recommendations, it is similar in tone:(http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/19/opinion/19jayamaha.html)
“To believe that Americans, with an occupying force that long ago outlived its reluctant welcome, can win over a recalcitrant local population and win this counterinsurgency is far-fetched. As responsible infantrymen and noncommissioned officers with the 82nd Airborne Division soon heading back home, we are skeptical of recent press coverage portraying the conflict as increasingly manageable and feel it has neglected the mounting civil, political and social unrest we see every day.”
At the same time, the most important front in the counterinsurgency, improving basic social and economic conditions, is the one on which we have failed most miserably. Two million Iraqis are in refugee camps in bordering countries. Close to two million more are internally displaced and now fill many urban slums. Cities lack regular electricity, telephone services and sanitation. ‘Lucky’ Iraqis live in gated communities barricaded with concrete blast walls that provide them with a sense of communal claustrophobia rather than any sense of security we would consider normal.
“In a lawless environment where men with guns rule the streets, engaging in the banalities of life has become a death-defying act. Four years into our occupation, we have failed on every promise, while we have substituted Baath Party tyranny with a tyranny of Islamist, militia and criminal violence. When the primary preoccupation of average Iraqis is when and how they are likely to be killed, we can hardly feel smug as we hand out care packages. As an Iraqi man told us a few days ago with deep resignation, ‘We need security, not free food.’
"In the end, we need to recognize that our presence may have released Iraqis from the grip of a tyrant, but that it has also robbed them of their self-respect. They will soon realize that the best way to regain dignity is to call us what we are — an army of occupation — and force our withdrawal.
"Until that happens, it would be prudent for us to increasingly let Iraqis take center stage in all matters, to come up with a nuanced policy in which we assist them from the margins but let them resolve their differences as they see fit. This suggestion is not meant to be defeatist, but rather to highlight our pursuit of incompatible policies to absurd ends without recognizing the incongruities."
"We need not talk about our morale. As committed soldiers, we will see this mission through."
Btw: two of the authors of that Op-Ed were killed in western Baghdad in September. [It’s gonna sound cheesy, ‘girlie,’ or whatever pejorative you want to assign – I cried when I read that

Things are working in some areas and stabilization ops *can* be done. There have been US Special Operations Forces successfully deployed in the Philippines as counter-insurgency advisors, trainers, and in more active roles against Abu-Sayyaf (Islamists loosely affiliated with al Qa’eda). The Combined Joint Task Force in the Horn of Africa is quietly and with small numbers executing stabilization ops. (Relatively recent report: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/military/july-dec07/dijbouti_08-17.html; PBS & Newshour actually do a lot of positive, in-depth analysis and reports on military activities).

Dude. YOU are the show ...and it's turning into a sad, sad tear jerker.
There was a short discussion at the DZ last weekend and a small group opined that you MUST be just playing with others ...that no marginally rational individual could possibly hold such totally wacked opinions.
I assured them you were not playing ...was I correct?

You listen to Limbaugh for WEEKS! Thank you so much for telling us that little tid bit. That explains so much. So tell me, is Limbaugh the only one abusing pain killers?

Read it out loud to yourself.
Look in the mirror and read it again.
And reread Amazon's post # 28 here.
Hopefully, you'll get older and wiser, and look back and laugh.

I don't really have a horse in this race. But I read the transcript, watched the film, bought the T-shirt just to see what all the fuss was about
You are talking complete crap. I agree with Billvon in this case, and the only one looking foolish is you. But its funny from my reasonably neutral point of view to watch the mental gymnastics going on to try and justify your point of view so carry on!
