Gun laws and school massacres - a price that just has to be paid?

John, do you own a gun?

If so when will you be going on a killing spree, or decide to shoot your GF?

If you do not own one what will your response be if you are robbed at gunpoint some evening while out on the town with your GF, and your GF is subsequently raped and murdered?

Having run out of factual arguments we resort to the emotional.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

Prof:

I see your point. I guess I shouldn't have posted that it doesn't happen that these places get shot up.

You've posted an example of a guy who apparently set up outside and fired some rounds at a police station. Kinda like the guy who shot at the White House a few years ago.

And then you've got a situation where a guy wrestled a gun from a cop. Slightly different situation.

However, your post IS correct.

I will give you a hint.

The answer to the question is yes or no.

Now answer the question, you know it is where your response is direct and non evasive, along with it not being another question.

Dr. John Kallend Do you Own a Firearm?

Why don't you post your 2006 form 1040 for us all to see, Randall?

Irrelevant.

We all know that you, ExAFO, are a stable, law abiding, careful citizen who cares for the welfare of others, especially fuck-trophies crotch droppings children.

Unfortunately every year hundreds of people, including crotch-droppings children are accidentally killed by legal guns on account of carelessness by law abiding, sane gun owners. Hundreds of thousands of legal guns every year end up in the hands of criminals on account of the carelessness or venality of law abiding gun owners.

But I'm sure your guns are in fine hands, as are warped's.

Well, it turns out that there are quite a few instances of people being shot in police stations (including with the policeman's own gun). There are a number of instances of armed robberies of gun stores (including a few homicides), and murders at firing ranges too. I couldn't find any cases of homicides at gun shows.

Well, golly gee, it seems that Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, and New Orleans metro areas ALL have higher homicide rates than NYC metro area according to the 2006 UCR. Houston and NO are far higher.

There goes mnealtx's theory.

No externalities involved with those two cities, now?

You should be less transparent.

How about we phrase the question this way: Would JK like a NRA membership for Christmas? Every gun owner should be a member of the NRA, right. The irony is priceless.
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Let it go. I'm guessing he's in the same camp as Rosie O'Donnell and Chicago's Mayor (i.e. no one can have guns but me and my bodyguard), but do you really expect him to say so?
Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.

There is a great deal of that statement that seems oxymoronic. Law abiding citizens are not careless with guns.

Still, I know the poitn you are making. And you know, it's a risk I'm prepared to take. Should we trust cops, who have their guns pulled away from them at a police station?

Though many communities have passed locking mandates that most will rightfully ignore, there really aren't laws against carelessness. SF lost a rookie cop a couple months back after he did some sort of demo at a party to impress a chick (surely alcohol was involved). Don't think he broke any laws, but he was a dumbass and paid the price for it.

Of course, the question is: are the number of these sorts of accidents sufficient to justify the legislative responses? Of course not. It's back door gun control.

in Florida it's a felony for a gun owner to be careless...and many have been successfully charged when kids do have access to them, more so when something happens.
gun safes are cheap, peoples lives are not.
I bought a refridgerator sized gun safe on sale for $300....for a measly 3 guns, 2 pistols and a shotgun.
plenty of room for ammo...guns...adult toys...important papers....cash....anything kids should not have access to!
don't just be "law abiding" when you own guns, be mature, responsible, and careful...remember they're in the car when the kids need the car...they're too dangerous to NOT think about them!

So when a legal gun kills a child in an "accident", is it not carelessness on the part of the owner? Or are you saying that at that point the owner ceases to be law abiding?

Well over 300,000 legal guns pass into the hands of criminals every year according to the US DoJ, mostly by theft. Shouldn't the theft of a weapon whose justification is defense AGAINST crime be considered careless at best, and maybe criminal negligence on the part of the owner?

If all gun owners were like you there would be far fewer "accidental" deaths. Probably far fewer gun thefts too.
