Chrysler and UAW in Talks Now, a New Strike on the Way?

In the wake of saving themselves of a protracted strike with GM, UAW is now trying to match terms with Chrysler.

What they apparently overlooked however is that Chrysler is now essentially a North American company, no longer in the asset stream of Diamler.

On top of that, Chrysler is a private company now, not answerable to shareholders.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Now only a few hours away from a possible strike.

This line caught my eye, and made me wonder if this doesn't take away from the "singleness of purpose" for UAW in this case:

Also at issue are the union's desire for job security pledges at U.S. factories and Chrysler's wish to contract out parts transportation now done by higher-wage union members, according to a person briefed on the talks.

I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure that parts transport is not done by Chrysler personnel to begin with. So is the union overstepping its representation here?
