Weather Modification

Is this related to how Bush "caused Katrina"? :P

I thought it was NO's debauchery that caused Katrina? :P Liberals, gays, feminists, etc, -- they are *that* powerful that they can control the weather!
Ya know, the ones that *aren't* in Iran according to Amenindejad. :P

Since this doesn't appear to have been discussed here before, interested in what you all think-

Weather modification as a tactical weapon is a pretty stupid concept since the amount of energy required to cause a hurricane or even a good tropical storm far exceeds that of most nuclear weapons.

As a strategic weapon, it also blows since by creating an overall generalized increase in one type of weather one place would generally fuck up vast other areas as a result; the overall out of which would be very difficult to predict. Let's say China wanted to cause a drought in the mid-west bread basket of the US. By doing this they'd most likely be causing flooding somewhere else, possibly counter to their own ultimate goals.

While it's "fun" to think you can just snap your fingers and have a tornado wipe out a city, it's just not possible to control anything on even that small a scale with that type of precision.

with some people it is unheard of period, don't think it is possible. So this was more dedicated to the overall concept of weather mod, with the possibility to venture into some other areas.

Like perhaps global weather modification as a potential/possible explanation for the 'chemtrail phenomena'.

I do not believe this type of modification is available nor do I think they would use weather mod as a weapon, per-se. However, with patents like this I suspect that global weather modification is a very real 'experiment', and I think they may be related to chemtrails, interested if others have considered it.

No, his inactions as 'leader' during the crisis, coupled with the elite's desire to ultimately employ eminent domain in NO, their desire to jack up gas prices and the lack of help provided to the folks to get back into their homes ultimately caused the disaster known as 'Katrina'. But that was probably discussed elsewhere- :P

This post is about our government trying to affect (reduce) global warming by using chemicals dispersed into the upper atmosphere or our planet. In effect, weather modification with a twist. They are changing the makeup of our planet, with the consequences ultimately a giant unknown.

Your link doesn't work and "chemtrails" are nothing more than paranoid delusions.

Edited to add;

Manipulated link to get it to work.

While this may be a valid patent, it's a horrible idea on a global scale!

The law of unintended consequences tells me that nobody in his right mind would ever attempt such a scheme except as a last resort and for exactly the same reasons I mentioned earlier.

Again, be more specific. What is it that you are talking about? What kind of weather modification?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Weather is a chaotic phenomenon, so very small changes in conditions can create huge changes in outcomes. IF we had a good understanding then it might take very small energy inputs to modify the weather.

The Chinese are heavily into it for agricultural purposes, and plan on using it to ensure perfect weather for the upcoming Olympic games.

Uh, yeah, lemme know how that goes will ya?

Google news stories

I can't personally attest to the effectiveness of what they do. But it sure sounds interesting, and they put a lot of money into it.

I disagree. While it is true that small changes can have profound effects given enough time and allowed to multiply upon themselves; you can't create or destroy the energy required to turn water into water vapor or water vapor back into water just by nudging a butterfly.

Given that the butterfly effect must take time to work, it takes any sort of weather modification out of the realm of tactical and into strategic.

Maybe, just maybe, I can make a huge solar reflector and raise the temps of the Great Lakes 1° and thereby create a blizzard due to an increase in Lake Effect, but, it's going to be a HUGE project, take HUGE amounts of time to work and will, as I've said before, probably have some unintended consequences further down the line.

I'm certainly NOT going to be able to do anything profound simply by cloud seeding. Hell, most experts can't even say for certain if cloud seeding even has ANY appreciable effect. Oh sure, they'll spend money on it, but that's just as much placebo effect as anything.

But the Sun and the heat stored in the oceans are prodigious sources of energy. It's not about energy availability, it's about control.

They'll get better results by banning car use the month prior, and I'm sure that will be one of their approaches, along with shutting down factories.

They've been playing with this stuff for the IOC visits prior to the selection in 2001.

Again, I disagree. While the ocean or even a cloud may contain quite a bit of energy already, every state change requires more, unless you're suggesting we're somehow going to be able to control the triple point of water.

That would be quite a bit of fancy science fiction.

It's real.

The FACT is that they've got these small airports in remote areas all over the country.
Several times per day they will pack small planes full of people & fly them up to about 10-14,000 feet, at which point these people all start to emit powerful greenhouse gases!:o

So hurricanes and tornados never happen. OK.

Either you're misunderstanding or misinterpreting what I'm saying.

If you go back to my original responces, you'll notice I was talking about tactical uses. The ability to make them happen at will and on a moments notice.

Raising or lowering sea surface temperatures enough to create or dissipate a hurricane would take HUGE amounts of energy that simply wouldn't be able to generated by any technology I know of at this time in any sort of timely basis.

click here for a new article on hurricane modification may shed some light. To me, they have been experimenting with this for some time to present it now as a 'solution' to a problem.

It would be irresponsible to think if they can weaken the hurricane, they cannot also strengthen it. Not only that, who's to say that Katrina could have been the result of an incorrectly executed attempt to actually save the city or more importantly save the refineries. Oh, but then the prices of gasoline would have stayed low and so would oil company profits. I guess there was some good to come of it after all... as long as you were the stockholder and not the homeowner... [:/] add the delays for helping the homeowners by getting them home and the temp housing and you have a situation that screams for investigation, but that is not likely.

Great now everyone will know that skydivers are causing global warming. Thanks SpeedRacer! :P
