I got a new toy...

Recommended Posts

No, it's not a new gun (yet... I'm still drooling over the HK USP Compact 9mm). It's a Vespa GT 200, in Portofino Green. I figure it'll save me a lot of money in gas if I use it to get around town, since it gets 70 mpg, and it's got lower emissions (.40 pounds per mile less than the average car). Plus, it's damn fun to drive!

Naaah.

> I don't care.

Not contentious enough for you? How about this -

If more people bought such "toys" instead of Hummers, we'd be in much less of a jam now in a lot of ways.

Cue the conservatives, and we'll be a-fightin in no time!

Im looking at Glock 21, 30, XD45 or XD45 compact...

I like toys too. Found a new local range that has fully computerized targets. Can program it to go x' distance, rotate in out of view, roll back, fwd, stop what ever all in a timed sequence. It was awesome. They allow rapid fire indoors too... I didnt think Id be able to find another hobby more expensive than skydiving... I was wrong.

Yah, but then how will those people show how "big" their dicks are if they're cruising around on the vespa?

No seriouslys guys, I'm sure it's huge. That's why you have to pay for sex. :D

Thanks for being an environmental dick, fuckos!

Did you go to Rome to buy it, or is that a promo pic?

But seriously, you're not going to ride that on the freeways are you?

Hmmm, when did random people become arbiters of where things belong?

Cute!

Vespas are super-popular where I live.

My neighbor has several. It was really flattering for a while after we just bought the house as I was positive he was hot for me--always riding by on his Vespa and waving as I'd go out to get the mail.

Turns out he's head of the Vespa club and restores old Vespas. He tests them out up and own our street.

:P

Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

That's the promo pic. I WISH I went to Rome. I don't have pics of mine yet; I've only had it since Sunday.

No, I'm not going to ride it on the freeway, even though it's freeway legal. It's for around town, so I can save my car for the freeway. My car has 130,000 miles on it, and it's a Ford, so I expect it to die at any time, and I figure if I'm using the Vespa for the local errands, the car will last longer.

Another question: How many people know what Portofino Green is? More notably, can any man describe the difference between that and say, . . . . green?

Remember when all cars came in colors like green, yellow, blue, black, etc. Even if a manufacturer had a green that was different from some other manufacturer's green; it was OK to label them both as green. And you simply called them green. There could be 20 different greens on 20 different models, they were just called green.

I think the metallic colors screwed everything up. It gave cause to name the colors something special, and the next thing you know we got colors named similarly to the paint display at the hardware store.

Our van is a perfect example. It is silver. But the manufacturer named it Heather. If I asked 100 different people to describe Heather, how many would get it right? More important, is their a right description? My guess is no; that Heather as a color is totally subjective, and mostly meaningless unless you are actually buying a can of touch-up paint.

It is green.

You should have purchased a Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

I don't want a motorcycle. I wanted a vespa. :P

I understand but a Kawasaki Ninja 250R out performs a Vespa in every area (price, mpg, 0-60, etc...) and you are just as likely to get hurt or killed on a Vespa as you are a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Don't forget to wear a helmet, gear, and smile (yes, a smile is important)! :)

Only .40 Less?

I would have thought it would be more of an exhuast saver than that.

Good point - Ninja or Vespa, it keeps the bugs strained such that only liquids get through.
