AWL71 0 #27 October 1, 2007 I only see one problem with the Vespa. Gravitymaster 0 #28 October 1, 2007 Quote Quote (yes, a smile is important)! Good point - Ninja or Vespa, it keeps the bugs strained such that only liquids get through. Mmmmm nothing like sucking on a nice fat beetle and then spitting out the carcass.
kelpdiver 2 #29 October 1, 2007 Quote>I understand but a Kawasaki Ninja 250R out performs a Vespa in every area . . . ?? So? A Subaru WRX out-performs an Excursion in pretty much every area, but some people want Excursions. Other people want Minis. Scooters are much more attractive than they used to be, but this one has the same classic problem - tiny tiny donut wheels. With the quality of CA roads what it is these days, I see that as a big safety loss. There are models out there with 14 or 15" wheels now, I probably should get one instead of riding a 1200cc Daytona across SF each day. But the scooters are so reliable that they sell for just as much as many good used motorcycles, so I can't bring myself to do it.
Nightingale 0 #30 October 1, 2007 Quote Quote Quote You should have purchased a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I don't want a motorcycle. I wanted a vespa. I understand but a Kawasaki Ninja 250R out performs a Vespa in every area (price, mpg, 0-60, etc...) and you are just as likely to get hurt or killed on a Vespa as you are a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It doesn't outperform a Vespa in one area: being a Vespa. Also, a scooter is a little bit safer because of the placement of your legs. If a car hits a motorcycle, the point of impact is generally the leg of the rider, whereas on a scooter, the legs are inside the scooter, and the point of impact will be the fender, not the body. This is where BMW airhead engines and saddle bags come in handy. But honestly, I don't find your explanation very compelling - those legs are pretty exposed to a broadside on any two wheel vehicle. I believe most of the perceived safety of scooters lies in the fact that they are ridden at slower speeds for most of their use. Not unlike me - since getting back on, I am not on the freeways very much.
akarunway 1 #32 October 2, 2007 Quote Im looking at Glock 21, 30, XD45 or XD45 compact... I like toys too. Found a new local range that has fully computerized targets. Can program it to go x' distance, rotate in out of view, roll back, fwd, stop what ever all in a timed sequence. It was awesome. They allow rapid fire indoors too... I didnt think Id be able to find another hobby more expensive than skydiving... I was wrong. I just got the Glock 32. Kicks ass. And the military Mossburg. Have a nice bruse on my face from it. Do not hold a pistol grip shotgun close to your face when firing. And I have the keys to 40 acres of rockpile to shoot on. Fuck an indoor range.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. Clownburner 0 #34 October 2, 2007 QuoteI understand but a Kawasaki Ninja 250R out performs a Vespa in every area Except style, where it looks like something a power ranger would ride. No, I didn't want a crotch-rocket either, which is why I too bought a vespa. I'm also enjoying my new Steyr M40-A1 a fair bit - it's very nice and accurate for such an inexpensive piece.7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth

Style is obvious in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure you've heard the joke about scooters and fat chicks. The ninjas come in colors other than that green. I wouldn't opt for Kawasaki Green either. I'm a Hummer owner or actually my wife is. We only drive it for fun, trips, beach trips and OK I confess, just about every day. But I intend to sell the Chevy Tahoe and purchase a Audi A6 for a better ride and gas milage.
