Cities cracking down on saggy pants

Personally, I find saggy pants abhorrent, but fines and time in jail -- a bit much, no? Not to mention -- isn't this completely unconstitutional?

I agree. This is a simple problem that can be easily fixed with an inexpensive stapler. If someone is wearing pants intentionally pulled way down, Simply pull them up and staple them in place. No need to waste perfectly good jail space on these losers (and yes, ANYONE wearing their pants down below their ass intentionally is a Looser).. They will find their own way there eventually anyway.

When it's middle teenagers, it's just doing whatever they can to piss off parents and other authority figures, without actually resorting to violence.

Are saggy pants worse than legwarmers, mullets, and parachute pants? Leisure suits and platform shoes on guys? How about zoot suits?

But, the advantage of being a parent or authority figure is that more people listen to you if you tell the perpetrator that he (or she) looks like an idiot.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I believe everyone has the constitutional right to make a complete jackass of themselves. It is helpful to be able to identify morons at a glance.

And I doubt the cops are in favor such laws; Over the past few years I've read MANY stories of foot pursuits ending when the perps pants fell down while he was running from the police. I can't believe the cops would be eager to lose that advantage.

I've had a few police officers tell me exactly that! We had a neighborhood car-burglar, dope dealer and all-round petty crook. A friend of mine on the PD told me how he got in a foot-chase with this brainiac and his britches fell-down around his ankles running down an alley. The cop had no problem catching him. He told me that, he had to choke-back the laughter watching this guy wipe the gravel from his bloodied face.
This new law sucks! The cops need 'some' advantage!

Almost as dumb was the story I heard about a perp who took the cops on a long midnight foot chase. Numerous times he was well ahead of the cops and zig and zagged, taking various turns he was sure would lose them, but they stayed on his tail until, (to his surprise and dismay), they finally caught him.

After they caught him, he asked how they were able to stay with him so well. So the cops explained it to him:

"You see, every time your foot hits the ground, that bright red LED flashes in the heel of your shoe."

It's a damned good thing, I wasn't drinking anything when I read that!!!:D Criminals are certainly not mental giants.
A couple days ago, someone hit and ran from a P/U - motorcycle accident. The driver of the motorcycle was unfortunately killed. When the woman who hit the cyclist was arrested, she asked the cops how they knew where to find her? As it happened, the front bumper from her pick-up, with the license plate attached, was left at the scene! She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.

How do they know who's wearing baggy pants.... unless they are also wearing baggy trousers ... Jeeze you foreigners need to relearn our language.

Before my wife retired from law enforcement, she would help-out with court hearings. Those little dumb-asses with their baggy britches would show-up for their court appearances with their boxers showing. My wife told them they weren't going into court looking like that and would 'show respect' to the judge. The most common response was; "What if I don't?" My wife told them; "Then, you're not going into the courtroom. You don't appear for your hearing, you get a 'contempt' charge tacked-on!" They pulled-up their baggies!:D
