They cannot comprehend that someone can have an opinion without also insisting that opinion be legislated on anyone else. Try more complicated words but simpler concepts. It helps in the communication. Quotemillion dollars to star in a movie portraying how guns are a terrible thing for society, wouldn't that make me a greedy hypocrite I would make you a rich hypocrit. You could also justify it and say you thought you were doing a parody. ... JohnRich 4 #77 October 1, 2007 Maybe this guy saw the movie: News: Four teens wounded after bus victim fights back"Seattle police say four teenagers picked the wrong man to harass on a Metro bus late Friday night. Police say when one of the teens attempted to take the man's glasses, he pulled a knife and fought back. Police spokeswoman Rene Witt says the man began swinging at his attackers in self defense. When the melee was over, four of the teens had cuts, including some with superficial cuts to their buttocks, and one had a dislocated shoulder. The man was not hurt..." AWL71 0 #79 October 1, 2007 Nope, wonders will continue. You can defend yourself with all kind of objects. Just don't take away my right to carry and own a gun if I so choose. I won't tell you to carry a gun if you don't tell me I can't carry a gun.The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. He could have just given over his wallet and keys, let himself get his butt kicked. And then, if he lived, he could file a police report. With the universal monitoring available, I'm sure the cops would have been waiting for each of the kids at their house once they got home. Then, without tasering, they can get the counseling they need and the opportunity to give back the money, if they don't really need it. ... (odd that nothing was said of the type of knife - wonder if it was legal to carry)

If you've never been convicted of a crime, and have never been judged a danger to yourself or others by a doctor, then get whatever guns you like. (Within reason, of course. JohnRich 4 #87 October 2, 2007 QuoteDefended himself against four teenagers - without a gun! Will wonders never cease. Has someone ever said in this forum that a gun is the only means of effective self defense? Obviously this guy had some guts and physical abilities. Not all victims have the physical capability to take on four attackers with a knife. That's why a gun is the most effective means of self defense, to avoid injury.
