A Lot of Developments with North Korea

As with anything regarding DPRK, the proof will be in the pudding.

I do think they jumped the gun by declaring the US was going to remove them from our "axis of evil" list.

Certainly, we cashed in some tokens with the Russian and Chinese governments diplomatically, but I think it still proves to be a triumph in terms of not giving them a one-on-one audience.

This could be a pretty neat development if it doesn't end up being a bunch of hype.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

My guess: 2 steps forward, one step back for the next few years.
We should never underestimate the importance of not losing face in Asian culture, and Pyong Yang will have to "bark" once in a while to give the impression it is in control.
But hey, scoreboard baby. I'll take it...

Besides being subject to economic sanctions, North Korea has also been on a U.S. list of states that sponsor terrorism, effectively blocking the North from being able to obtain low-interest loans from international lending agencies like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The Bush administration is the only U.S. government to remove a country from the list since its inception in 1979. It has removed Libya and, after the end of President Saddam Hussein's government, Iraq.

Ahh.. no yahoo. The U.S. also removed Saddam from the state terrorist list in the early 80s... and then shipped weapons to him.

"Any obstacles to the normalization of ties between North Korea and the U.S. will be cleared if the two sides follow through on their parts of the deal on the principle of simultaneous action," Paik said.

Translation into historical truth: "This agreement will be good for the global community if the U.S. don't cancel on it like they have done several times in the past when dealing with N.K."
