CanuckInUSA 0 #1 August 30, 2007 In late 2005 and for a good chunk of 2006, I lived in the Vancouver BC area of Canada which while it has some capitalists, it is known to be a haven for socialist bleeding heart liberals. Then for the latter part of 2006 up until the present, I have lived in Calgary (Cowtown) Alberta (Oilberta) in Canada and while there are some socialist liberals here, it is pretty much known as Canada's most money hungry "look at me, look at the car I drive, if you are impressed with those you should really see my house" conservative capitalistic city and the biggest thing I have learned in living in these two cities, is that: I dislike them all!!! The money hungry "I will sell my mother" to get rich people are just as annoying as the bleeding heart socialists who feel that we should have one big hug fest, share everything and all the world's problems will go away. Why is it that those of us in the middle of these two extremes have little representation. Oh well ... I am obsolete anyway, so it really doesn't matter what I think. Carry on agreeing to disagree with each other. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

lawrocket 3 #3 August 30, 2007 I don't dislike liberals or conservatives. On an individual level, I get along well with anybody. My best friend is a Canadian socialist from Winnipeg, which makes good fun for a libertarian. What I've found most often is that on an individual level, I get along with them. It's when there is the whole group dynamic that I get fundamentally irritated with anybody. As an individual, however, it is remarkably easy to strip a person of pretense. From the pinko bleeding hearts to the "look at my car" poseurs, getting to know them one on one strips the pretense away and they are normally all highly agreeable people. Only on the individual basis does one see that he or she has 98 percent commonality with both extremes. My buddy from Winnipeg? We love beer, hockey and women (in no particular order), which was enough to make us friends. And the fact that we both are inherently curious about both all facets of things leads us to have enlightening conversations of the sort most would find extremely boring. My wife is hotter than your wife.
