lawrocket 3 #1 August 30, 2007 Yep, Cuba will skip the boxing world championships, to be held in Chicago in October. Why? Because the Cuban government apparently feels as though its athletes will be brainwashed and sorely tempted to give away their top notch healthcare system in exchange for the horrors of living in the United States. Ask Michael Moore - NOBODY would choose that. Therefore, Cuban boxers will NOT be allowed to be exposed to such atrocities as America may show them. Cubans may be tricked by the United States into sticking around. We Americans call it "defecting." Apparently, a couple of boxers disappeared for a couple of weeks in Brazil during the Pan American Games. The boxers were apparently being brainwashed in Brazil until they could escape. There ain't NO WAY Cuba will allow its boxers freedom to be brainwashed by evil capitalist dogs in America! Said the Cuban Boxing Federation: "We will not expose anew a Cuban boxing team to the abuses and provocations that in this case will be present in Chicago, American territory, the perfect location for marketers and traffickers to act freely and with the total complicity of U.S. authorities," (Note that there are huge problems with the idea of "freely.") Oh, but the Cubans have a right to go to the Olympics. "That's a right that all members of the Cuban sports movement have and one we will exercise at the appropriate moment," (The goverment will exercise the rights of its boxers. Rights sure are strange here in the U.S.) It's actually the fault of the evil United States government!!! "The robbery of everything that stands out in Cuban society, it doesn't matter if its an athlete, teacher, doctor, artist, scientist or anything else, has been the practice of different U.S. governments in their permanent political aggression against our people," (Isn't this different from Castro's famous quote, " ¡No los queremos! ¡No los necesitamos!") Cuban officials "profoundly analyzed the threats of groups that with teams of negotiators serve one of the most vile interests of the United States and some of its allies, the theft of athletes." (Athletes are THEIR property, dammit. PROPERTY! "Swing low, sweet chariot...") It makes me wonder whether baghdad Bob has found a new job in Cuba. "Their infidels are committing suicide by the hundreds on the gates of Havana. Be assured, Havana is safe, protected. We defeated them yesterday. God willing, I will provide you with more information. I swear by God, I swear by God, those who are staying in Washington and London have thrown these mercenaries in a crematorium. Please, please! The Americans are relying on what I called yesterday a desperate and stupid method." At least Carter called it a boycott. My wife is hotter than your wife.
