Sen, Larry Craig, Republican, arrested in airport restroom

Recommended Posts

Oh, so squeaky and clean...another one exposed for who and what he is... a pervert.

Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho was arrested by a plainclothes police officer investigating complaints of lewd conduct in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to a report just issued by Roll Call.

The report said the incident happened just after noon on June 11.

A spokesman for Craig, a Republican, called the incident a "he said/he said misunderstanding" and promised a fuller statement later today.

But according to Roll Call, Craig, who is married, pleaded guilty on Aug. 8 to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge in Hennepin County District Court and paid more than $500 in fees and fines. A 10-day jail sentence was stayed and a one-year probation imposed.

According to the police report obtained by Roll Call, Sgt. Dave Karsnia of the airport police was investigating a men's room where frequent arrests have been made for sexual activity. Soon after the plainclothes officer took a seat in a stall, he noticed "an older white male with gray hair standing outside my stall." He peered through a crack in the door for two minutes before entering the adjacent stall.

The officer reported that Craig tapped his right foot, "a common signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct." Craig allegedly moved his right foot so that it touched the officer's left foot. When the officer flashed his badge beneath the stall wall, Craig reportedly exclaimed, "No!" The officer informed him he was under arrest and took him for 45 minutes of interrogation and photographing.

At one point during that session, Craig allegedly passed over a business card identifying him as a U.S. senator and said, "What do you think about that?"

During a tape-recorded interview the officer reported Craig "either disagreed with me or 'didn't recall' the events as they happened." At one point Craig reported he reached down to pick up a piece of paper, but the officer said there was none on the floor.

In October 2006, Craig's office publicly denied allegations that he was a homosexual made by a gay activist website, calling it "completely ridiculous" with "no basis in fact."

The Roll Call article by John McArdle is available online only to subscribers.

Jesus H Christ.......

Is there ANY right wing "conservative" Republican out there that is not just a kinky story waiting to happen???

We've seen that the republicans don't have the market cornered on "kinky stories"
I don't expect you to react the same way to the Dems that have been found guilty of similar crimes.

Definitely true, although it certainly seems that those politicians (of either party) who are most vehemently against something (say, gay rights or patronage) are the ones most likely to be caught engaging in such pursuits.

You bet your sweet bippy..... see I have this thing for honesty... TRUTH in advertising.. if you go out of your way to villify people.. and then you are found out to be a little light in the slippers.. then yes....you are a hypocrite..

Now.. if you are a guy who like other guys.... no problem... as long as you support causes that would further your acceptance in this society.. at lesast be honest and let the people around you know so they can judge the REAL you.

BUT most of these guys are into the whole holier than the rest of us.. and in the "MORAL MAJORITY"( I doubt that...HIGHLY) family values party.... you get my drift?????

If you are a poofter... dont go out of your way to persecute others like you ... so you can pretend you are an upstanding moral church goin... god fearin man...to fool the rubes in the "christian" far right.

Then again.. Karl has been doing it for YEARS.... he sold the Shrub as a god fearin man too.

Sounds like he was hoping that it would just disappear and no one would be the wiser...

Statement of Senator Craig:
BOISE, ID - Idaho Senator Larry Craig made the following statement in response to the Roll Call story this afternoon:

"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct.

"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."

As I recall... they're in DC to represent their CONSTITUENTS, not their own agendas... I guess you forgot about that part in the midst of your rant?

LOL, now that is a funny statement.
Since when have they cared about anyone but themselves (repukican and democraps)?

Do you think for a minute.. THEIR CONSTITUENTS would support them for a second if they know how sinful they are... on their own time.

Maybe not...But they might support them based on their voting record.

And you're thinking that Craig was just engaged in representing the gay men who solicit sex in public bathrooms?

(I figure that's not what you meant, it just came out funny!)

So a foot tap is all it takes to prove intent and convict? This is even weaker than the Dateline statuatory rape cases.

So what sort of lewd conduct can be conducted from separate bathroom stalls? Was there a glory hole?

Sounds like he's a two faced queer, but this sort of evidence is pathetic.

Now that right there..............is some funny shit.. no matter where you are from.:ph34r:

Well, that's the way it's supposed to work. Senators voting on behalf of the will of the people they represent. I guess I'm not as.....Bitter as you are. My guess is based on the incessant ranting in your posts.
Enjoy the rest of your night.

Tsk tsk tsk..

Not bitter at all.. but if you REALLLY believe that a closeted gay Republican senator from Idaho could actually get a majority of voters to vote for him after his very apparant hypocrisy.....well you provide the correct description for that.

But I do absolutely LOVE making you guys over there on the other side of the aisle squirm.....and especially when you make excuses for those you have put on a pedastal....as moral leaders with the backing of the religious right swallowing their hypocrisy ..( hook line and sinker as well as the pole)

When you put it all together - staring through the crack in the stall door for two minutes, the foot tapping and touching the foot of someone in another stall - it's pretty hard to argue that it was merely a series of coincidences.
