So only the votes of the people in the most highly populated states will have any significance, and the people in the Red states are SOL. That's so appropriate.

Why do you hate the concept of ONE PERSON=ONE VOTE...that is called DEMOCRACY.

You are supporting a one vote is MORE EQUAL than others depending on where you live. It also leads to abuses of power by a RULING CLASS.

Okay, two can play at this shouting game...

The FOUNDERS had this argument too. They AGREED by VOTING to allow a system that COMPENSATES the SMALLER, less-populated states. They REALIZED that due to disproportionate NUMBERS in the various STATES, another MEANS of REPRESENTATION had to TAKE PLACE, or else the VOTES of the SMALLER STATES would have NO SIGNIFICANCE in a GENERAL ELECTION.

So there. :D:SB|

That being said, I think the Cali proposal is a good one. Rather than winner take all Electoral College votes based upon simple majority, it allows a percentage of the EC votes to go to each candidate.

However, the Founders must have argued about this aspect as well. Anybody got a source?

All well and good, except that you're forgetting one thing. We don't live in a democracy. We're governed under a Federal Repuiblic that happens to, at this time, have "democratic values".

what states rights? they pretty much have none in the current system.. at any point if they attempt to go against the grain of the federal government they lose..

you got a little spittle there - right there, on your collar

you outrage at whatever it is you are upset about is reflected this way? ----> {{we might as well abolish them completely }} What exactly are you hypothesizing as a solution? HOw do you "abolish" the 'concept' of states rights, state to state parity? especially under the argument that they don't exist anyway one should close the door the rest of the way?

Since you and Amazon don't believe that individual states (only individuals) should have leverage in politics, then I assume you also propose we abolish the Senate? Since it doesn't have any power anyway?

they DONT have any leverage... and there never was a 'state to state parity'. The entire system of State vs Federal governance is broken. No state can make any law that the federal government doesnt fully agree with, No state has any leeway in how they wish to govern if it clashes with the Federal will.

I dont propose abolishing them.. I propose returning their internal sovereignty to them and removing the choke hold the Federal government has increasingly inflicted on them.

This actually EMPOWERS the people, because if/when they are a voting minority in their current state, they then have the option to relocate to where the 'law of the land' suits their needs and ideals, thereby shifting the political climate and giving states with the most 'public appeal' more political power due to increasing population and income. Currently the differences between states are negligible in nearly all aspects except climate and the 'historical divisions' that determine where the state lines are drawn equally meaningless.
