warpedskydiver 0 #2 July 25, 2007 probably real, I can't tell from what I saw. I would however think that a .50BMG would pierce the steel and not have comeback. Ricochets happen. if the bullet was not a FMJ and was of some softer material this could happen. Never shoot target you cannot pierce at close ranges. A friend got a shard of 7.62 jacket in his shoulder that way. Look at the video closely and you can see the round hit the ground 15-20 ft in front of him. Bet it scared the hell out of the guy, especially if he could hear the thing coming. LouDiamond 1 #5 July 26, 2007 It never ceases to amaze me at the dumb asses who shoot fixed steel targets at close ranges. Armour666 0 #7 July 26, 2007 I've slowed it down an took a look dosnt look like a barrett to me because of the gap from the barrel and for stock. looks a bit like a ArmaLite AR 50 not to shure because the vido is not the best quality. also in quick succession of the dust on the ground the ear muffs come off. tryed looking closer not shure its an auto if it is a ArmaLite as dont see any mag on it.SO this one time at band camp..... 1969912 0 #8 July 26, 2007 But it sure looks like something gets ejected out of the left side of the rifle when it's fired. Are there any 50's with a left-side ejector port? Scoop 0 #9 July 26, 2007 I thought ricochets generally go up in the air, down to the ground or whizz along the floor, not do a 180 and come back at you... or was that just nonsense we were told by armed officers so we feel safer when we are around them! lol I don't know anything about ballistics so be good for someone to clarify for me

He was shooting at a steel plate, I guess so they could hear if he hit it. Bullets can do strange things. A guy I know shot at a chunk of steel and the bullet put a ~1/2" hole in the steel, but didn't go all the way through. some of the steel jacket around the lead core of the bullet did a 180° turn and flew straight back at the shooter. It stuck in his shoulder about 1/2" deep. Ouch. Look close and you can see the thing ricoche off the dirt in front of him before it hits his earmuffs. No big deal when it was 3-400m out.SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."

Are there any 50's with a left-side ejector port? ya I seen that too , left hand side ? none that comes to mind ot that I could find that gap between the barel and the fore stock dosn't leave to many that I could see from Janes that have that, maby it was something new. Was wondering if they had placed anything on the bench rest and it was just being tossed from the the shock of firing. Would love to have a clip of the original befor compression and uploading be able to tell a lot more from that.SO this one time at band camp.....
