Rookie120 0 #1 July 8, 2007 OK, so the Live Earth concert was yesterday and most people know the details of it. Something that I saw last night when I was at work at the airport has put a bug up my ass big time. We all know what the goal of the concert was, use less energy, fossil fuels and what not. So when I was at work I was outside the hangar and I saw Bon Jovi and the band pull up in a HUGE tour bus with 3 Chevy Tahoes with security guys. They got out of there tour bus and jumped on an BBJ. About 45 minutes later Dave Mathews arrives and jumps on a G-4. Then Kanye West got a Challenger. Then poor Kelly Clarkson, she only got to fly on a Citation II. I just thought to myself what a bunch of assholes to be preaching how we need to cut out energy consumption then after they put on a huge concert jump on there private jets and take off. I'm sure they bought there carbon offsets and put some more money into Al Gores pocket so they feel better about themselves. I guess you dont always have to practice what you preach. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Gawain 0 #3 July 8, 2007 What's even more interesting is that one of the companies that "claims" to provide a carbon off-set, is partially owned by Al Gore. All while he consumes 20x the amount of energy the average American uses. Hypocrisy really does a doozy doesn't it!!So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! masterrig 1 #5 July 8, 2007 Making money, any way they can. Gore preaches all his bull-shit about global warming and conserving energy while he's laughing all the way to the bank. By the way... who, made him an 'authority' on the environment? That guy wastes more energy than a small town. What you told, really shows the hipocracy of the 'stars' who's movies or cd's we buy. I see big wigs come through there all the time. The hangar I work at is right next to the corporate FBO. Most of the time I could care less who come through. I just love to see what they are flying on. But when I seen who was on these planes knowing what they had just performed for, well it did not sit to well for me. Bon Jovi probably just burned more fuel in 1 flight than I burn in 5 years driving. But they want me to adjust my driving habits to cut down on polution. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Great performances , top artists donating their time and talent . We just have to wait to see how it impacts people and corporations thru out the globe , as far as awareness and taking action upon it .Who is picking up the tab for all of this ? lawrocket 3 #15 July 8, 2007 QuoteI didn't even know there was a Live Earth Concert. Was it any good? Chris I heard there was to be a live Earth concert, but I reckoned that since it was for the environment it would not use energy. Imagine - if 500 million televisions tuned in for but 4 of the 24 hours that's a lot of power to be generated!!!! "TUne in to our worldwide concert - broadcast using coal-fired electricity and viewed using the same! SUpport the environment." It sounds like having sending a message to get everyone to have "Tattoos are Stupid" tattoed on their faces as a protest against tattoos. Or having a "sex-in" where people are encouraged to fornicate in support of abstinence. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Muenkel 0 #17 July 9, 2007 To be honest, I really don't give a shit about global warming. I do not want pollution and I do want less crappy emissions spewed into the air, but that's it. For me, I think we have more pressing issues facing humanity right now like poverty, starvation, disease, terrorism, etc. These are proven issues. Global warming has yet to be proven. It still could be a cyclical trend. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

In no way do I support the stupid Live Earth concert, I just wanted to bring this fact to your attention :)

In no way do I support the stupid Live Earth concert, I just wanted to bring this fact to your attention :) Before I would blame 'Global Warming' for starvation, poverty and disease; I would put the blame on human selfishness. If those who have would voluntarily share with those who don't, those 3 issues could be eradicated. Are you planning to walk up to a person who is starving today and tell them not to worry because people are working on eradicating global warming? Selfishness truly is the root of all evil, and we're all guilty of it to some extent. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
billvon 3,120 #24 July 9, 2007 >Are you planning to walk up to a person who is starving today and tell > them not to worry because people are working on eradicating global >warming? Well, to be fair, if people DO manage to stop global warming (unlikely) and thus end the droughts in several parts of the world, those people will be able to better feed themselves and not have to rely on people giving them food. wmw999 2,589 #25 July 9, 2007 Sometimes the dividing line between selfishness and a healthy self-interest is fine. But generally it's just seriously misplaced. Of course, I have enough money to skydive Wendy W. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
