birdlike 0 #51 July 7, 2007 QuoteHere ya go bubba.. http://www.infowars.net/Pages/Sept05/270905Martiallaw.htm For years we have warned that the police state is coming, how Martial Law will become the norm, how ancient laws, rights and freedoms are being overturned and replaced with repressive mechanisms of control. I have to ask you, since I haven't been around here long enough to have observed, where you stand on the ancient commonlaw right of citizens to have arms for their own defense? I mean, you're railing, evidently, against the Bush admin about how it's after our rights, and will be the death of them. Do you support gun control, and the idea that we shouldn't have guns but the police and military should? Or do you support the idea that anyone who's not insane or a criminal should have the right to guns, and to carry them for personal protection? Just curious.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
birdlike 0 #52 July 7, 2007 QuoteFDR took away more rights of American citizens after 12/7/41 than GW Bush has, it's not even a close comparison. Most of it was temporary though. If there is amother large scale attack we will probably lose some rights, but if we have the balls to do what we need to, like under FDR and Truman, it could be temporary as well. Do you have specific reasons why you beleive we will be under martial law or is this just one more way to say Bush = Hitler yet again. Do you beleive it will happen under Obama, Clinton, Edwards, or McCain? Or just republicans, or just Bush? Good points. Maybe the "martial law" amazon fears is coming would be geared specifically or exclusively to arabs in America, or those who appear to be arabs. Sort of like profiling, taken to the extent that it was with the Japanese during WWII. I can't say I'd really mind that too terribly. FDR did it and he's viewed as a historically great president!Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
ECVZZ 0 #53 July 8, 2007 QuoteHow well did that theory work in 1861? Well enough to support a war which lasted over 4 years and cost approx. 600,000 lives. I'm sure you knew that, but it puts a different spin on your question, now doesn't it. G. Jones "I've never been quarantined. But the more I look around, the more I think it might not be a bad idea." Amazon 7 #54 July 8, 2007 Quote Do you support gun control, and the idea that we shouldn't have guns but the police and military should? Or do you support the idea that anyone who's not insane or a criminal should have the right to guns, and to carry them for personal protection? Just curious. I am on record as being an avid shooter and have a CCW and do carry. I do go hunting and do have the weapons appropriate for hunting big game.. birds or small game/varmits. As far as gun control.... I am a firm believer in our 2nd amendment rights.. and think the government already has far too many contols. That said I think with gun owership comes great responsibilty in learning how and when to use them appropriatly. In my family this occured at a very young age for all of us. If someone does not get that training then a mandatory training regimen should be available to all who wish to own guns. Each state has this in one for or another if you only look. The current laws IF applied and followed to keep guns out of the hands of criminals who already have shown they cant live with others well and have been convicted of crimes...do not deserve the rights of citizens who HAVE shown they are a law abiding and vibrant part of society. I think the insane fall under that definition as well... I do have a problem with WHO is judging the person insane or mentally defective.. it would be far to easy to deny rights based on bogus criteria. Just because there are 80 million gun owners dont be surprised that there are MANY in government who want to find ways to deprive us of our right to own and bear arms and contrary to the far rights railing against the Dems... its not just Dems.. its a lot more widespread than that... and in a situation like Martial Law..after a terrorist attack.... they can and will seek to confiscate them. Oh and on that note.. a well regulated militia as noted in the constitution needs to have the current weapons in use ...I want my surplus tank to be used in case of invasion foreign or DOMESTIC

I'd take an AR-10.... on second thought, no... I'd rather have the new HK in something other than 5.56.. I'm not a fan of the caliber, and the HK gets past St. Gene's "shit where it eats" design...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
