At least we now know that in the hierarchy of supposed minorities, gay trumps black.

So in this card game a spade beats a queen and either one beats a straight.

Yup!! :D:D:D

No. A queen beats a spade, and both beat a straight.

I think a big part of it is when gays start trying to compare their discrimination to the struggles of blacks in the 40s and 50s.

Talk about your crappy analogy.:S

Apples and oranges perhaps but you cannot say for sure that one neccessarily had it worse than the other.

Everyone should share the special interest pie equally. Then we can all get preferential treatment equally.

Riiiight. We all technically can fit into some definition of special interest. I am Irish/Scottish and you know how the english treated us. Damnit I want compensation. I be a victim, i be opressed because de man be keepin me down. Hey this whole victim thing is fun. As a matter of fact, I am only an A liscence and have been looked down on by some B's C's and whatnot.......damnit the DZ owes me compensation!! I am ugly and have had it worse than good looking people....damnit I must be owed something for that!! I can also play these cards if ever I fuck-up and lose a job.

Thanks for giving me the idea. I never would have thought of that without your help.

Tell me about all the discrimination and brutality inflicted upon gays in this country... and explain how it would be on par with the black struggle in this country.

Discrimination and brutality against gay people? There have been plenty of both. Just do a google on "gay bashing".

While you're at it, ask around about how gays are treated by the black community.

Sorry if I seem like a cynic but I do feel he is crying wolf. Am I wrong?

FWIW, Shonda Rhimes , the exec producer of the series, is African American. You would think she was very involved in that decision and it'd be odd (though not impossible) to accuse her of racism.

It seems pretty obvious to me, but here are some links. Even in my own life I recall we were taught by our parents and teachers that racism was wrong and we would get in deep crap at school for the slightest racial comment yet it was open season on gays and this was acceptable. Our gym teachers and rugby coaches thought nothing of making comments about a guys sexual preference if he underperformed at something physical. We could openly make gay jokes in the presence of our teachers, yet would not dare tell a black joke.

Hate to burst your bubble but blacks to not hold the franchise on being oppressed, as much as some of them would like to portray it that way. They are one of many minority groups, of which all have suffered discrimination/oppression.

I am sure he can find a way. The race card always finds a way. When unable to compete with counter arguments they can always fall back on "you couldn't understand because you have not walked in my shoes"

I, for one, as a single, white man over 50, totally agree.;):S

Heck, Imus got canned for one stupid-ass remark. We could prob'ly come up with *some* sort of discrimination that his firing might have been. Mostly I bet it was because of the stupid comment and the network's unwillingness to be associated with it.

Could even be that it's the same situation with this guy. Hard to call it discrimination when you do some hair-brained thing that is better said in the company of your closest friends, rather than among a larger group that just ain't so forgiving. Live and learn Mr. Washington. It'll all come out in the wash.
