I personally think the VP's office should answer the questions, but from the context of the quite incomplete article, this is not compromising information, merely certain reporting requirements. Important, nonetheless, but not required by Federal law.

Quite unlike Mr. Berger.

so exactly what is he afraid of? What would he be hiding? It is just another example of likely buried corruption at the top levels of government.

I'd like to know what the whole deal of reporting what is classified and/or declassified to Congress actually accomplishes.

If anything, it puts on record item which you do not want attention drawn to in the first place. Doesn't make sense to me.

Now, since some of this is drawn from an executive order, if the President made the VPs office exempt, then this amounts to Congress making more fluff over something that is not in their power anyway, just like the AG news.

This is true. I'm wondering about the lack of compliance out of curiosity, but in all reality Cheney's lack of compliance is little more than an admin shuffle. One wonders why his office doesn't handle it - he most assuredly wouldn't be involved in such trivialities. Now if information was compromised in any way, then I'd be really ticked the fuck off. But from all appearances, nothing malign has transpired.
