souleh 0 #26 June 26, 2007 That's kinda what sickens me about American policy. Sure, it's a nice country and all, and most of you yanks are alright , but you apply stuff only when it is in your own interest. The geneva convention.. The kyoto protocol.. The nuclear NPT.. (sure, we're just the same on that one) I mean, sure, I can *understand* all that, but what surprises me is that you lot don't realise how the rest of the world views you based upon it rant> And regarding Guantanamo, I'm sorry but that's bs. "They were apprehended commiting acts of war." WRONG. They're held on SUSPICION of "terrorism" (a lovely catch-all), a lot without any hard evidence whatsoever... held indefinitely, with no legal representation, little contact with their families, etc. Don't get me wrong, I hate "terrorism" too, but not how your government uses it as a scare tactic to walk over the rights of other nations' citizens. If there's a shred of evidence, follow it up with due legal proceedings & a criminal trial. If they're found guilty, lock them up and throw away the key (or maybe a forced labour camp?). Gitmo just makes a mockery of our "Civilised western culture". $0.02 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
Royd 0 #27 June 26, 2007 QuotePersonally... I would call them the enemy.. and put them in a POW camp and keep them there until the hostilities are over. Please give a definition of a POW camp. Those guys in Gitmo are in the lap of luxury compared to the rat hole that they came from.

Perhaps its time to read up on the proper treatment of prisoners under the Geneva Conventions... ever done that???? As far as the Al Queda leaders captured in other countries we are holding.. bring them here. and try them in a court of law since they were not captured on the battlefield... If and or when they are found guilty accoring to LAW.. then bury them in a prison in isolation as we do to many people because they do not deserve to be amoung the normal population basedon their crimes or deeds. Currently the stench of illegality on the international level that is permeating what we are doing.. sets a VERY bad precedent on how our people may be treated in future conflicts. Skyrad 0 #30 June 26, 2007 Quote Once again, they are not Americans. They were apprehended commiting acts of war. And as stated in the Geneva convention we are allowed to hold them untill the end of the conflict, for obvious reasons. The military court system and the Civilian court system are two seperate courts of law. That is how millitary guys get slammed twice for the same offenseAnd if you have a list of names and offenses, please share. Then why are they being held and interrogated in contavention of the Geneva Convention and why have they not got POW status? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
