beowulf 1 #182 June 13, 2007 QuoteQuoteYou would have a better answer then I. I don't believe any of it. I think I know what you answer would be, but it really doesn't matter to me at all. Your arguments lack any substance since they are all based on faith. I know you don't believe. What I asked you was, "If it's true, will you be innocent or guilty?" You already answered your question earlier. By your rules I would be guilty just as you. But of course you believe so by your rules you are exempt. It's all very silly. There is very little difference between mythology and religion.

Scoop 0 #185 June 13, 2007 Do you ever think for yourself? Think how pissed God will be at you when he realises how much you contributed to polluting his planet to jump out of planes for shits and giggles. You could have used that time to nurse injured orphans or preach the tales of God's impending judgement. That would have really got you in his good books
tkhayes 348 #186 June 13, 2007 that's not the point tho', especially with the Catholic religion. Even if you led a great life, helped the needy, and did everything you could to be a good person - if you sinned, and never asked for forgiveness and never accpeted Jesus into your life as your Saviour, then you will still burn in hell. falxori 0 #191 June 13, 2007 Quote To one who examines the evidence, there can be no doubt that God exists. Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker. if everything has a maker, then god has a maker too, and god's maker has a maker etc. so who made god's maker's maker's maker? Lindsey 0 #192 June 13, 2007 Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker Maybe everything wasn't "made." Perhaps it simply is. It just could be that it's more complex than you or I understand. My lack of capacity to understand doesn't make me assign omnipotent qualities to a hypothetical god. Examining the evidence, that's what I come up with. I highly doubt that God exists.-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. billvon 3,114 #193 June 13, 2007 >My lack of capacity to understand doesn't make me assign >omnipotent qualities to a hypothetical god. This is the classic argument from personal incredulity. "I do not understand how this could be; therefore, God did it." Fortunately we've been whittling away at the things we don't understand. Sometimes it takes a while, but eventually we come to believe that a round earth, a limitless heaven, the ability to fly, evolution, planetary formation etc do not "eliminate" religion. No, but for a large proportion of the population, the more we understand our world/universe (or whatever), the more our ideas change regarding what we believe god is, or the breadth and depth of our religious beliefs change.-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism or whatever else you can come up with has no solution for the problem of sin and its penalty. They can't save you. Religion is man's attempt to justify him/herself. They all require that you "work" your way to some form of salvation/better afterlife/whatever. It's all a futile attempt, however, because "there is none that does good, no, not one."
