It's not his fault, he was actually holding this money for the poor of New Orleans. In order to replace the guns that were confiscated and in honor of ending the war in Iraq. If only he wasn't fooled by the charade of organized religion, then Darwin and Isaac Newton would be trustworthy again once their obvious errors were crushed. CRUSHED! In retrospect anyway. idrankwhat 0 #9 June 4, 2007 I hear that Tom DeLay's ghostwriter will be ghostwriting the book. But on a serious note, I just read a list of the charges: "..... racketeering, soliciting bribes, wire fraud, money-laundering, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act." What's the problem? I thought this was just the run of the mill Congressional legislator job description.

Makes for a lot less bloviating. Compare that to the right wing's support of Tom Delay. They didn't seem to have any problem defending Jack Murtha on an ethics violation... QuoteThis debate played out this month in a vivid exchange between Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), a former FBI agent, and Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.), an ex-Marine, after Rogers led a failed bid to scuttle $23 million for a project in Murtha's district. Rogers charged that Murtha confronted him on the House floor a week later and shouted something like: "I hope you don't have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bill, because they are gone and you will not get any earmarks now and forever." "I replied to him that threatening retribution is not the way we do business in Congress," Rogers said in the Republican radio address last weekend. "To which he replied, 'That's the way I do it.' " Murtha, a close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco), has not directly responded, though his office issued a statement that said: "The committee and staff give every Democrat and Republican the same consideration." Murtha sits on the appropriations committee's Subcommittee on Defense. On Tuesday, Democrats thwarted an attempt by Rogers to get the House to reprimand Murtha. The resolution was tabled without debate on a nearly party-line vote of 219 to 189.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
JohnRich 4 #17 June 4, 2007 QuoteDo you think George and Dick would stand before the World Court in the Haige??? First, you would have to spell the name of the city correctly so that you could get them there. Second, you would have to get the World Court to actually accuse them of violating some laws. Third, there's the problem of the U.S. not recognizing the World Court, because it's nothing but a political tool to some other countries. But hey, you can dream. Tom Delay has never been convicted of anything. Do you think that people accused of crimes, whose cases have been dismissed by the courts, should be considered guilty anyway? And there sure as heck wasn't any kind of smoking gun like bundles of cash in Delay's freezer.

JohnRich 4 #21 June 5, 2007 Quote>Tom Delay has never been convicted of anything. Neither has Jefferson. The difference is that Delay has been accused of numerous things for many years, and has not had a single one of those charges ever proven against him in court. Delay has withstood the test of time and justice. Jefferson, on the other hand, was just charged today. It remains to be seen if his charges stick. And given the pile of cash in his freezer, I think the odds are good that they will. Thus, because of the differences in time to resolve the charges, you can't really compare the two as equal. If, two years from now, Jefferson has had all 16 of the charges against him dropped, then I'll admit you're correct. But I don't believe anyone thinks that's what the future has in hold for him. But I know how much you love to have the final word on everything, so I'm sure you'll have some kind of come-back...
Amazon 7 #22 June 5, 2007 Gee Mike.. that is the way YOUR team has been playing things for YEARS now.. you didnt seem to have a problem with that before...Over and Over anything many Democrats tried to bring to the floor.. were stifled.. OR they were flat out not even allowed to bring it to the floor....for any kind of vote... they were complete shut out of many committes where the Republicans had the majority...no dissention allowed.... seems some of that is coming home to roost now.
