BIGUN 1,490 #3 May 31, 2007 He was a politician considerably longer than he was an actor. But, not to make light of your point. He will be admittedly playing on the public's knowledge of him as a person from his acting career.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. DSE 5 #4 May 31, 2007 I'd rather suggest Fred is a respectable person who occasionally acts. Having worked with him more than once, he's a straight-up guy. I don't know that I agree with his politics, nor do I know if I'd vote for him given the chance (if I had to choose him or Mitt Romney, I'd figure out how to vote twice for Fred) but he's a very impressive guy from a personal standpoint. billvon 3,121 #6 May 31, 2007 >Having worked with him more than once, he's a straight-up guy. I have no doubt that's true. But nowadays, his character, judgment etc doesn't have much to do with whether or not he is electable. His TV character does, since people "trust" such characters. And acting skills are invaluable in any election.

Guest #9 May 31, 2007 QuoteHe was a politician considerably longer than he was an actor. What he said. Fred's gone back and forth between HWood and Capitol Hill for quite a while, so although he's got a show biz background, he's also got real political chops as well. Good luck to him. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Gawain 0 #11 May 31, 2007 Is he officially running now? I thought he was still in the "exploratory" stage. Either way, he will be a strong contender. The problem is that more people know his face better than his name. Once they know who he is though, the response tends to be positive. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! warpedskydiver 0 #13 May 31, 2007 Fred is a respectable man, let alone his voting record. He is the single best choice for president since Reagan. Check him out...make up your own mind AFTER READING HIS VOTING RECORD. Other politicians wanted to be president, Fred was begged to run, and nearly dragged out of his comfy retirement. All he cares about is what kind of country and world he will leave his grandkids with. Listen to his audio clips availible in the web, he speaks of subjects that really bother him. warpedskydiver 0 #14 May 31, 2007 Why smear him?....read up and then open your mouth... The man is decent enough that it makes you wonder how he ever got elected. BTW he was not voted from office, he retired after the untimely death of his daughter.

Maybe my standards have lowered but right now all I want as a President is someone who can open their mouth without something really stupid coming out; someone who can be presidential. And FT is a Senator and character actor, not the other way around."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
willard 0 #18 May 31, 2007 What I know of his voting record shows no tendency towards radical views left or right. He knows what his ideals are without having cue cards. His commanding presence on stage or at a podium is what the country has lacked for the last three presidents. He would be a candidate as worthy of the office as any, and better than most just on these traits. I look forward to learning more about him if he decides to run.
