Al-Qaida video threatens attacks on U.S.
By ANNA JOHNSON Associated Press Writer
Article Launched: 05/29/2007 11:34:27 PM PDT

CAIRO, Egypt- An American member of al-Qaida warned President Bush on Tuesday to end U.S. involvement in all Muslim lands or face an attack worse than the Sept. 11 suicide assault, according to a new videotape.

Wearing a white robe and a turban, Adam Yehiye Gadahn, who also goes by the name Azzam al-Amriki, said al-Qaida would not negotiate on its demands.

"Your failure to heed our demands ... means that you and your people will ... experience things which will make you forget all about the horrors of September 11th, Afghanistan and Iraq and Virginia Tech," he said in the seven-minute video.

Gadahn, who has been charged in a U.S. treason indictment with aiding al-Qaida, spoke in English and the video carried Arabic subtitles. The video appeared on a Web site often used by Islamic militants and carried the logo of al-Qaida's media wing, as-Sahab.

Gadahn, who appeared in an al-Qaida video last September in which he called on Americans to convert to Islam, demanded that Bush remove all U.S. military and spies from Islamic countries, free all Muslims from U.S. prisons and end support for Israel. He said a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq alone would not satisify al-Qaida.

Ben Venzke at IntelCenter, a U.S. government contractor that monitors al-Qaida messages, said the group likely did not believe any of its demands would be met.

"It essentially allows al-Qaida to say that it has provided fair warning and is thus no longer
responsible for the outcome," Venzke said in a statement.

Gadahn, a California native, is the first American to be charged with treason in more than 50 years and could face the death penalty if convicted. He also was indicted on a charge of providing material support to terrorists.

What a joke! Al Qaeda could never, ever launch a successful attack against the US; history has proven that. I am glad to see people treating it like a big joke; that way we won't waste time defending ourselves from such a threat when we could be using that time to start another excellent war.

RHIFWs

Why do you keep using that acronym as if everyone knows what it means?

It's a disparaging term for people from the middle east. Although, to its credit, I suppose it at least singles out the "crazy" ones.

...who also goes by the name Azzam al-Amriki

For some reason I find humor in this name, I can't decide why.

Well, when doing a search for "RHIFW" or "RHIFWs" I only see hits referencing posts either by markharju or in response to one of his posts.

Might make things easier if he would use the term "terrorist" or "enemy" or (in his case) "liberal."

Apparently so.

It's an acronym, but then as now, I stand behind my remarks. I also use my real name and not a pseudonym. I'm not afraid of the PC Police (and I'm not afraid of the RHIFWs either, but they're dangerous because they are insane and therefore unpredictable), but out of respect for folks here (and to avoid being banned), I use the acronym.

The RHIFWs are NOT a tiny fringe minority - they're just the craziest of a massive death-cult of insanity. What has the so-called "religion of peace" done for mankind besides bring ignorance, poverty, brutality and tragedy to its adherents and to anyone unfortunate enough to be in their way when they go on a psychopathic rampage? The cult's name means "submit", but it almost always means submit to the guys with the guns. By the way, please feel free to rhetorically compare this to Christianity by citing rare cases to make them look equally evil (e.g. McVeigh). You and I both know better.

And billvon, I wasn't implying that we should "ignore them and they'll go away", but rather that Arabs have always had a lot of hot air and bluster - it's just part of the culture.

I agree on the arab blustering thing, however I do know quite a few Arabic Christians that are pretty damn humble and reserved.

Muslims on the other hand...yeeeeeeeoowwww.

Ask any arab christian how they are treated in their own homeland.

Third class citizen in the ME, and treated like a terrorist here.

Nice huh?

Well, even when I google "RHIFWs" I get very few results, none of which shed light on what it stands for. Mind spelling it out for people who read your threads, or do you fear getting banned for that? I take it that the RH stands for the disparaging reference to arabs that you've used repeatedly in old threads. How about the IFW?

Has it become a fashionable thing among republicans to invent their own terms now? If so, you and rushmc might want to get together to work on a new (dis)lexicon.

As for all this vile for muslims, it's a *very* stale old topic in this forum. You and many others have cast sweeping generalizations on over a billion people who adhere to that faith. I think that's more a reflection on you than it is on its followers.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Mathematics, astronomy, and other things that helped bring about the Renaissance.

It seems to me that Islam is not all about ignorance as you describe. We've got Muslim PhDs here working at my laboratory doing AIDS research.

That was then. Your key word is "Renaissance", as in over 500 years ago, before the mullahs decided that enlightenment was "un-islamic".

If you search this forum, you'll find I give credit to "then" where due. However, the "now" is very, very different.

Islamo-Fascist Whacko. Does that answer your question?

Who said I was a Republican? I'll admit to being a conservative, but I'm more laissez-faire Libertarian on most issues.

I think the word you are looking for is "vitriol" or perhaps "bile", but your syntax is mangled.

It's the RHIFWs who think their death-cult is "under attack". With a billion adherents, it's not in any danger of going away (to the misfortune of us all), but the violence persists. I wouldn't say the endless brutality and barbarism that are inherent in the cult are a "sweeping generalization" - I would say they are a matter of fact.

The religion itself? Absolutely nothing.

But what has christianity ever done besides cause wars, poverty and intolerance?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Pedophilia inside the church
War justification (WW2)
Torture and murder in the crusades and the inquisition

etc, etc,

We are talking about same shit here

Your ignorance is showing. There are very good universities in Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan (and before WE got there and fu**ed over the place, in Iraq).

From the rules:

------------------
Personal attacks and hate posts will not be tolerated in any forum. . .

Posts that contain material that we deem to be blatantly or unnecessarily racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, pornographic, or otherwise offensive, will be removed.

A member who is rude, excessively profane, or disruptive may receive a warning or may be suspended or banned immediately.
-----------------

That means no comments about towelheads or sand niggers, and no gratuitious attacks on a race or religion. There is much discussion going on about the role of Islam in the Iraq war / the 9-11 attacks etc and that's fine. But a few people have been pushing the limits of that lately. This is fair warning that it won't be tolerated any more.
------------------

Fair warning. Now that you've defined that acronym (one you have used a lot in the past) you will not be able to use it here any more. Further, since you made it up specifically to subvert those rules, you can't use such acronyms in the future.

Geez, Bill! Can't I call them Islamo-Fascist Whackos?

I didn't make up the acronym to "subvert" anything, but in looking at it from your point of view I can understand how you and others may have perceived it as such. My apologies.

Thank you, Bill. I'm hardly the one to go calling for more restrictive use of authority, but this open bigotry was really galling.

Of course now there will just be more hidden bigotry. I guess that's an improvement of sorts...
