Where are the people shouting "Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!" ?

Oil company boardrooms.. and defence industry contractors... and Chinese banks.

You forgot comedians. W has given them so much to work with the last 6 years.

website (with more fun stuff): http://www.prankplace.com/outofofficecalendar.htm

(oh, and as of right now: 1 year, 4 months, 7 days, 21 hours, 34 minutes, and 10 seconds )

Sweet ! I knew somebody had to actually make one, I might even go out and look for it. Except then I'd have to look at his stupid face every day. I just used a calculator...

And the magic number for today is 492.

haha, i got 'em at barnes and nobles or borders. and although you DO have to look at his stupid face, all pages are accompanied by something stupid he has said. therefore ALMOST worth it to have to look at his face. :)
(or may i suggest making it into a coloring book for yourself or any children around. some black permanent marker should do just fine...:P)

And, as far as god is concerned, I'm agnostic so I don't really give a shit what either conservatives or bleeding heart liberals think God wants for this country.

What do we got left now, a mere 13 months?

I was thinking of where he will fall in history. He is not as sinister as Nixon was, but definitely imposes his own personal and at least slightly evil agenda. He is easily confused and almost as uninformed as Reagan was, but that would be tough to top since Reagan had Alzheimer's driven dementia.

But the combination, along with his inability to publicly express himself in the manner of an educated person, just might make him the worst of the lot.

Pity too, because his adoption of Texas as his home state, along with his down-home type approach and verbal style really could have charmed America and won him a lot more support. But shit hit the fan, and he was forced to actually try to act like a president, what with having to make decisions and communicate intelligently. This did not play to his strong suits, and he was exposed for the dufus he is.

He tried to do the next best thing and defer to experts. Unfortunately he had surrounded himself with some very narrow minded and self-serving experts.

So what will his legacy be? I say he will be seen by historians as the man who somehow managed to build the unlikeliest of coalitions - putting together the ends of the financial and social spectrum, in a supreme and highly successful effort to marginalize the great middle and impose his personal agenda on them. By the time they woke up and smelled the coffee - it was too late.

But maybe my cry of incompetency is all wrong. From a different perspective, he and his friends have made a LOT of money by manipulating information and public perception. They have been master propogandists, easily the best since Reagan.

Maybe he is proof that it is possible to be publicly incompetent but privately and personally successful.

i couldnt agree more.
i wish i could form my thoughts on the subject into sentences as graceful as yours.

Awwww, you're just saying that to be nice.

But seriously, thanks; and an afterthought:

I wonder if he even cares what the public thinks any more? Wonder if he ever did?

youre welcome. :)
as for W.
he decided what he wanted to do (correction: he let others decided what they wanted to do, and then pretended it was his idea), and then stuck with it. i mean REALLY stuck. when the majority of the united states is displeased and crying for someone to stop the insanity, he has NOTHING to say. sometimes silence is far more powerful than words. his silence just further proves his ignorance.

do i think he cares? not a bit.
agenda, agenda, agenda
he cant admit he was/is wrong, and that he let the wrong people make very important decision for him, that in the end...harmed us far more than it helped. (IMO)

Welcome to the Bush Countdown. As we mark each day to Bush's departure from the White House, we can keep track of the dear leader's glorious accomplishments.

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the end of hostilities in Iraq. I would suggest a national holiday. To celebrate, immature behavior would be appropriate. Rent a flight suit and strut around like John Wayne. Say things like "bring it on".

Only 630 days until Bush is gone.

I think its terrible how you all pick on one of the finest presidents of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa3J-L29iT8&mode=related&search= :D

You uber liberal pagers must have gone off this morning.:D:D:D

Liberal schmiberal ! You think Bush is a conservative ?? He's a classic state authoritarian, an undisciplined deficit spender, and an idle privilidged son of the leisure class. Plus he's incompetent.

I take great comfort in knowing that WHOEVER our next President will be, even if it's someone I genuinely dislike, we will have a better president than this frat boy idiot we have now.

483 days to go.

I'm with you there. I am so disgusted with his personal agenda and his apparent disregard for the public at large, that I'm even ready to accept Hillary as an alternative.

Hurts a bit to even say that.

I'm with you on this one. Bush more closely resembles the stereotype of a liberal democrat, not a real conservative.

That's why tying ANYTHING to the labels of Dem or Rep, Lib or Con, is foolish.

We need better choices. Gore or Kerry still seemed to be horrible alternatives to the present guy. Even now.

Each CANDIDATE I'll look at. The "R" or "D" won't matter unless they are just party panderers, then they get rejected automatically. (Guess I'm out of luck)

Giving you the benefit of doubt, I'll assume this is one of your more satirical observations. There is no resemblance whatsoever to a liberal. The closest resemblance I see is to Richard M. "I am not a crook" Nixon, with the exception that Nixon was actually smart.

a - classic state authoritarian - Liberal
b - an undisciplined deficit spender - Very Liberal (though deficit PLUS tax increase spending would be better. The key word is "spend")
c - idle privilidged son of the leisure class - Liberal
d - incompetent - meh, both sides can claim that one

But, the boundaries of the definitions are blurring (that's why I said 'stereotpye'). That description applies to almost any national level politician today. So picking at this any more is pointless except for those in denial.

Why don't you describe the negative stereotype of what you think is a liberal? That list should be fun. If you can even make yourself do that......

{{BTW - When I do that for both lib and con, I tend to come up with very similar lists.}}

ROTFLMAO :D

I'd love to heard more on this.

From a public persona, they are night and day. If you look at Nixon's presidency with the exception of Watergate, it was an incredibly good one. He got us out of Vietnam, ended the draft, opened relations with China, took us off the gold standard, began the OEO, the EPA and the NOAA.

Please tell us why you think Bush and Nixon are so similar.

Both of them had/have a horrible sense of ethics. Nixon was downright nuerotic towards the end. He became a paranoid mess. He was also very superficial. Apparently he learned his lesson in the Kennedy battle and overreacted to the point of becoming a habitual liar in order to look good. The biographies are full of quotes that betray his meaner side. I was reading one excerpt where he is quoted as saying something along the lines of 'That oughta take care of the niggers for a while' about a piece of social legislation.

I'll admit he accomplished some good things, but if we go down the road of only looking at results, of accepting any means to an end, then we open the door to some despicable behaviors.

Towards the end, he really acted more like a paraniod monarch than as the elected leader of the most powerful nation on the planet.

p.s. - I have not read the biographies myself, but it is hard to imagine some of the quotes I've read as being seen in a good light in any context.

There are some similarities.

Both believed in essentially unlimited power of the presidency.

Both felt they were above the law, and their administrations obstructed investigations into their wrongdoings.

Both had no respect for privacy laws. Nixon with the Brookings Institute, FBI spying on peace activists and use of the IRS to harass members of the anti-war movement; Bush with his warrantless-wiretap programs and Patriot Act.
