Andrewwhyte 1 #1 April 27, 2007 So the Canadian government released their CO2 reduction targets yesterday. Since the Sierra club is whining louder than the Oil patch I guess they are a bit conservative. CO2 emission levels will be twenty percent lower than today by 2020 but will still not be anywhere near their target under the treaty. The environmentalists keep pointing to Europe as the leader on these things so I want to know how they are doing. If you are outside North America have CO2 emissions begun to decline yet? Has your gov presented a plan yet? Does it have targets in line with Kyoto or something a bit less ambitious? Do they have a snowball's chance in hell of being met? BTW if you want to argue the science of global warming please go to another thread; that's not what this one is about.
JohnRich 4 #2 April 27, 2007 News: Europeans missing their Kyoto targets "Britain and Sweden are the only European countries honouring their Kyoto commitments to cut greenhouse gasses, according to a think-tank report. "Although the US is portrayed as the ecological villain for refusing to sign up to the agreement, 10 out of the 15 European Union signatories will miss their targets..." http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article335198.ece
